★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great communication at this animal hospital! I’m planning a cross country road trip w my cats, and I wanted to make sure I had a safe plan just in case anything went wrong. The receptionist Alexa was so sweet and informed, she let me know the process of me coming to the hospital for the first time and what I would need. Thank you !!
May 27 · Jane DaisyThis place is a gem! The doctor was amazing and quick, professional enough to see exotic animals - my hamster Potato and give a breath of hope that she will live! And I also now started believing so! The stuff was also very nice and comforting and high-rank service providing people! Booking & getting appointment is much easier than in any other clinics in the neighborhood that I went to/had experience with taking my hamster for check-up/exam/treatment! Thanks a lot!
May 23 · Diana BalashovaLong story but you want to hear me out if you care for your pets. My dog had too much fun in the beach one weekend and she ended up ingesting some sand. She’s a teacup so what might be just a small amount of sand could mean a lot in proportion to her weight. She started feeling unwell. Our vet didn’t have an appointment so I took her here because it was advertised as acute care. They took an xray of my dog and said there was a blockage because her intestine was twisted, that’s why she’s feeling unwell. We were offered a conservative route and surgery. Of course we went with the conservative option of enema and fluids. They said they had to keep her overnight for observation. This was when the problem started. I tried calling the clinic that evening to see how my dog was doing after the treatment they supposedly gave. No answer. Next day, I called a couple of times early in the morning but still, no one was answering. Really poor communication. Finally got a call back and clerk said the doctor wanted to talk to me. Dr Hassan said the enema did not work and the only option was surgery. He would do a surgery to untwist her intestine that was causing the blockage. We were having second thoughts so we had to go check on my dog personally. She was there, in a cage, they told me she wasn’t eating or drinking. She smelled so bad. They said they gave her IV fluids but we never saw any catheter on her. I decided to discharge her against medical advice because something was telling me this doctor was trying to rip us off. We took my dog home that evening and she became weaker. I took her to an urgent care vet (one that’s legit this time) and told the vet the whole story. The vet told me, firstly, my dog was too dehydrated. Even if she got surgery, she’s too unstable. Two, there was a blockage but it’s an impaction from the sand (mineral) particles, not a twisted intestine. My dog was hospitalized, given multiple enemas and bounced back - all without the surgery Dr Hassan was trying to push. I went back to this clinic right before they open, lo and behold, a dog was loose behind the counter, a cat was on the countertop. Meaning - nobody was watching the animals overnight! They charged me for hospitalization overnight saying it was for observation and nobody was there! NEGLIGENCE. I left shortly after taking this picture and that’s when a lady unlocked their clinic from the outside - which further confirmed that the animals are left there alone. They charged me for hospitalization when my dog wasn’t even cared for. Dr Hassan tried to do damage control thinking I’m completely clueless. But little did he know I work in the medical field, and all though I work with humans, I know how the flow goes. I know when something is not right. Suggest you look this doctor and clinic up for malpractices before ever sending your pets.
July 15 · misscheophaneHonestly Astoria animal hospital was such a great find! We had a cat we found a month ago that needed emergency surgery for stones in his bladder and kidneys. The ER we were at was going to charge a premium price for the surgery we couldn't afford. So they called Astoria animal hospital for us to see if they would be able to help and do the surgery. The price quoted from the ER wasn't the current price but Astoria animal hospital honored the price quoted and were able to take my cat that night for surgery the next day. The receptionist Anyla was so helpful and patient with me and made me feel confident in the care they would give. They took my cat and the next day had a successful surgery! They even kept him for observation for 2 nights as they wanted to ensure he was in perfect condition to be discharged. They didn't over charge me and made sure all avenues of care were taken and considered. They did blood test and urinalysis as requested of course at a price as all vets do but it wasn't over priced! This process could of easily cost me $10k+ which I didn't have. Instead it was a 1/4 of the price with the same care! Lorena the receptionists when I picked up my cat was sweet, and informative as well. She was patient with my questions and when I requested files be sent she follow up timely! Thank you Astoria animal Hospital and Dr. Hassan!
July 26 · Brittney Hughes-VillegasI called around many places and decided to come to here. Best decision I’ve made. They treated snoopy and I with so much care. Dr. Hassan was amazing , very inexpensive and straight to the point. Most vets I have gone to try to over charge and get over on you. Not here. I recommend 100%.
