VCA County Animal Hospital - Dr Maggiolo Introduce
For pet owners in the New York region, finding a veterinarian who is not only medically skilled but also compassionate and transparent is a top priority. In Yonkers, VCA County Animal Hospital, under the leadership of Dr. Maggiolo, stands as a prominent option for comprehensive pet care. This practice is dedicated to providing a full spectrum of veterinary services, from routine wellness checks to critical emergency care, ensuring that your beloved animal companions receive the best possible attention. The hospital's approach aims to make the often-stressful experience of a vet visit as smooth and "painless as possible" for both the pet and the owner.
The hospital's reputation is a subject of contrasting opinions among its clientele. One review highlights the positive aspects of the practice, praising the staff for being "organized and prompt." This customer noted that the staff "explains everything" and "obviously cares about their furry patients," which helps to ease the discomfort that can come with a vet visit. This feedback suggests that the hospital and its team strive to provide a clear and compassionate experience, which is an invaluable trait for any veterinary clinic.
However, another review provides a more critical perspective, specifically about an experience with Dr. Nicholson. While the customer appreciated the doctor's informative nature, they felt pressured into giving their new puppy "unnecessary vaccines" that were part of a "set vaccine list." The review describes the experience as "overpriced," with total costs ranging from $300 to $400, and notes that other local vets charge "about $60 less for shots and exam." This customer also felt uncomfortable with the hospital's policy of making owners wait in the waiting area while their pets are in the exam room, an experience they described as "strange." This feedback highlights a concern about transparency, pricing, and specific clinic procedures that prospective clients should be aware of.
Despite these differing accounts, VCA County Animal Hospital offers a wide array of services that make it a compelling option for many pet owners in the Yonkers area. The hospital’s commitment to providing an easy-to-use app and its wide range of services are also key selling points. As with any veterinary practice, it is recommended to ask questions beforehand to ensure that the services and costs align with your expectations.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Explains everything, obviously cares about their furry patients, and the people at the desk are organized and prompt. Taking your pet to the vet is never fun - for the pet OR your wallet - but they make it as close to painless as possible.
July 21 · corinne schlyer saferVery nice staff and informative. I felt okay with Dr.Nicholson I felt like he was pushing vaccines on me ($$$). He did thoroughly explain everything to me but as a new pup owner I was still left confused because I had a set vaccine list to be given to my pup. It felt pressured and I found out some vaccines were not needed but given. They did give me a free kit with my pups exam (as they should for their prices). They also have an easy to use app. They are overpriced. I wish I would’ve known the chargers beforehand. The other local vets charge about $60 less for shots and exam. All together I spent $300-$400 here. Felt pressured to give unnecessary vaccines. I also don’t like that they make you wait in the waiting area for your pup and don’t allow you in the room with them ( I found that strange). I have returned to them to care for my pet I just ask more question's beforehand so I won’t be surprised later.

June 13 · Midiam DiazI really wish I knew about this animal hospital sooner being a cat mom for so many years. Everyone was so friendly, and welcoming. Dr. Maggiolo took his time with our kitten and was thorough. I highly recommend this hospital.

February 01 · LIZNY 1227I did not feel safe in this office with my dog because they were not following general safety procedures. For example, no one was holding my dog while she was on the examination table. She was just freestanding while a tech pet her. I had to get up and hold her and comfort her. The vet barely looked at my dog. They then took her to the back to check her temperature (weird to leave the room for this)--and the tech just picked her up to carry her without her leash. When she brought her back to me, she dropped her on the floor. Seems like the standard safety protocol should be to hold them securely on the exam table and taking the pet to the back on the leash. It also just felt unclean. Will never go back.

June 04 · Amy BurgerI brought my cat here last Saturday with an injured leg. I dont know who the vet was maggiolo, there was no introduction. It was a tall, disheveled looking, condescending fellow who was visibly annoyed when I walked in the examination room behind my 21 year old daughter. He asked some questions about how our cat got injured, as he physically examined him in a rough and abrasive manner. The best he could tell us was that the cat most likely had a significant injury which any 5 year old could have told us based how the cat was behaving. Ignored the fact that the cat was obviously in pain.He then told my daughter and me that he was only going to be there for another two hours and didnt have the time to navigate all that it would take to figure out what was wrong and him and then do something about it. We were the only people there at the time, and there was another vet on duty. He passed us along to VEG in Elmsford, which turned out to be a blessing. They promptly diagnosed and treated my cat, with grace and compassion, in way less that two hours.I will NEVER set foot in this awful place again, and if your care about our pet you wont either.
