What is Worth Choosing
For pet owners in New York, VCA Farmingville Animal Hospital is a choice worth considering due to its comprehensive and professional approach to veterinary care. The hospital’s wide array of services, from general check-ups to critical care, ensures that most pet health needs can be met in one place. The staff's expertise, particularly with larger breeds, and their reputation for being compassionate and empathetic are key reasons to choose this hospital. The positive reviews about specific veterinarians like Dr. C.J. Kraneburg, who are willing to go the extra mile, provide a strong testament to the quality of care available. The story of the family from Pennsylvania, who were helped in a time of crisis despite not being regular clients, showcases the hospital's dedication to compassionate service.
However, it is also important to acknowledge that the experience can be inconsistent, as pointed out in a review that mentioned a different veterinarian's unprofessional behavior and the questionable value of the membership plan for certain pets. The fact that appointments are recommended and that it is a VCA clinic, which is part of a larger network, might lead to some corporate-style practices. The advice from a customer to "request specific doctors" is a valuable tip for anyone considering this practice to ensure a positive experience. Ultimately, what makes VCA Farmingville Animal Hospital a good choice is its potential for exceptional care and its wide range of services, particularly for those who prioritize expertise and convenience. For residents of New York, it stands as a reliable option for a variety of pet health needs, as long as they are aware of the potential for a mixed experience and plan accordingly by scheduling with a highly-recommended vet.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Mixed ExperienceI've been a member of the membership club at this vet hospital for some time, and my experience has been quite mixed depending on which veterinarian I see.The Good: Dr. Kraneburg has been absolutely exceptional - empathetic, compassionate, and consistently goes above and beyond for pets and their owners. Crystal Goos is equally amazing and professional. Both doctors handled my large dog extremely well, making the entire process much easier and less stressful for him. Their expertise with larger breeds really shows. The Concerning: Unfortunately, Dr. Robbins provided a completely different experience. She openly complained about her back problems and vented her personal frustrations during my appointment - something that should be handled privately, not in front of customers. The appointment felt rushed and unprofessional, especially considering I'm paying for membership services and then extra out of pocket.Membership Value: The membership club isn't worth it unless you have a puppy or senior dog. For middle-aged, healthy dogs, I consistently walk out with unexpected additional charges, which defeats the purpose of having a membership plan.Overall: While some veterinarians here are truly outstanding, the inconsistent service quality and questionable membership value make this a 3-star experience. I'd recommend requesting specific doctors if you choose this practice.
August 30 · Adam Raymond WarburtonAbout a week ago, my family and I traveled from Scranton, Pennsylvania, to enjoy a camping trip at Smith Point Campground. Upon arrival, we were unexpectedly informed that my sister’s dog required an updated rabies vaccination—something the campground had unfortunately not mentioned in advance. My sister is extremely diligent about her dog’s health, so this came as a complete surprise and left us in a stressful and difficult situation. With limited options and the day slipping away, we made countless calls—reaching out to over 20 emergency veterinary clinics, PetSmarts, and even local shelters—hoping someone could help. Just as we were beginning to lose hope, VCA Animal Hospital stepped up and offered assistance. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warmth, empathy, and understanding. They immediately put us at ease during what had become a very hectic day. Dr. C.J. Kraneburg and her entire team went above and beyond, and their compassion and professionalism made all the difference. We are deeply grateful for their support and kindness. Thanks to them, we were able to continue our trip with peace of mind and full hearts. Thank you, VCA, for being there when we needed you most.
August 06 · Christine AragonaI've been taking my dogs to Farmingville Animal Hospital for over 10 years. I used to love his place, but it has changed dramatically since VCA acquired it. It is now an in-you-face for-profit business that cares more about cash than about our pets. I still love my veterinarian (Dr. Robbins has been the only reason why I stayed for the last 3-4 years), but a recent conversation on the phone with the hospital manager convinced me that this is no longer a good practice. (In retrospect, once you realize that VCA is owned by Mars, it kinda makes sense.)
August 12 · Oskar PinenoWe were having an emergency with our pup, we needed an immediate rabies vaccination and dispute bing fully booked they were able to squeeze us in!! We are truly and incredibly grateful to Dr. C.J Kraneburg and her team!!
July 30 · vI was recommended by a friend because my dog has severe allergies. I met with Dr Goss who's a great knowledgeable vet. This was my first boudoir visit and I will be following up with her when my 13 yo golden girl goes into allergy mode. I also spoke with Nikko hoping I spelled that right and Amy as well to resolve a billing issue that was completely handled within hours of my call. Thanks so much
