Located in Port Allen, this establishment is a multi-faceted resource, serving not only the reptile-keeping community but also avid fishermen and general pet owners. This focus allows them to provide a high level of expertise and quality in a domain that is crucial for the health and well-being of many pets.
Fluker's Cricket Farm has a history rooted in providing live crickets to local bait shops, a mission that has since expanded to serve a much broader audience. Their evolution into a key player in the reptile and pet supply industry highlights a deep understanding of their product and the needs of their customers. This is not a place for general pet food or toys for your average cat or dog; it is a hub for reptile enthusiasts and those who rely on live bait, offering a dedicated service that is hard to replicate. The business is known for its delivery service, a convenient option that is particularly valuable for customers who need a steady supply of live feeders for their pets.

Fluker's Cricket Farm offers a range of services tailored to the specific needs of its customers, setting it apart from more traditional pet stores.
- Specialized Live Feeder Sales: The business specializes in a variety of live feeders, including crickets, mealworms, and other insects essential for reptiles, amphibians, and other insectivorous pets. They are a primary source for these products, which are often difficult to find in large quantities at a regular pet store.
- Delivery Service: A major service offered is delivery, which is a significant convenience for customers who require a regular and timely supply of live feeders. This service is particularly beneficial for those who may not be able to visit the store frequently. However, it is important to note that customer reviews indicate that delivery experiences can vary, with factors like shipping delays and package handling affecting the condition of live insects upon arrival. Customers should be aware of the variables involved in shipping live animals.
- Bait Shop: Catering to the local culture, the store also serves as a bait shop, providing live crickets and other bait to fishermen, linking their business to a long-standing Louisiana tradition.
- Pet Supply Store: In addition to live feeders, Fluker's provides a range of supplies for reptiles and other pets. This includes products for housing, feeding, and the general care of these animals.
Fluker's Cricket Farm Inc stands out from other businesses due to its unique features and its commitment to specific customer needs.
- Niche Specialization: Their focus on live feeders and reptile supplies is a major highlight. This specialization ensures a high-quality product and a deep level of expertise that is not found in general pet supply stores.
- Inclusive Environment: The store's amenities, such as being an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safespace with a gender-neutral restroom, create a welcoming atmosphere for all customers, promoting a sense of community and respect.
- Customer Convenience: The availability of a free parking lot and the option for delivery service provide practical benefits for customers. The store accepts credit cards and debit cards, making transactions easy and secure.
- Customer Feedback: While some customer reviews on delivery services note challenges with shipment delays and the condition of live animals upon arrival, it is important to understand the complexities of shipping live products. The reviews highlight the need for customers to be mindful of shipping conditions and to communicate any issues promptly with the company. One review mentioned that while initial orders were "flawless," a later order was a "disappointment," showing the variability that can occur with a complex logistics chain. Another review pointed out that although the delivery was "perfect," the crickets still began "dying" shortly after arrival, which can be an inherent challenge with live insect products.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1While my first two shipments were flawless and all live feeders arrived alive, this order was a disappointment… I paid to overnight 1000 one inch crickets as I had determined 2000 was a few too many to keep… So, I paid twice what the crickets cost to get them safely here. I placed the order very early Monday morning. By midday I had received notice the flight was delayed, but they would arrive before 7pm, Tuesday evening. I was hopeful as we had cloudy weather…The crickets were not delivered until after I had gone to bed and by the time I opened them at the crack of dawn, several hundred were dead. Now, I’m looking at having to order again, weeks before I should have. I would rather have had my order held back than sent on a delayed flight.
August 23 · Suditi De TrinidadDelivery was perfect!! Delivered to door on Wednesday and I brought them in immediately to other container right away which I always do. They are already dying and weren’t smelling good when first opened. I have 10,000 more that I haven’t opened yet (refrigerated). Not sure what to think.
September 13 · Ridley ChandlerI've placed three orders with them so far, all were for 1,000 crickets, and selected USPS Priority Shipping.1st order arrived just fine. Placed on a Monday, and arrived on Thursday. Crickets looked good, very little loss and they came with pieces of potatoes to keep them hydrated and fed.2nd order, 95% loss, they stunk (felt sorry for the mailman). Also placed on Monday and arrived on Thursday. This order did not have any potatoes. I contacted their chat support, and was given a credit to order another batch. Their website says they do not ship on Friday, but thankfully they did and the crickets arrived on Monday.3rd (replacement) order, arrived healthy. They did not come with potatoes, even though I requested it in the comment section when ordering.Overall, I'm happy with their customer service and that they shipped the crickets out on Friday. If they hadn't, it would have been another week before they arrived and I would have had to buy some locally at 10 times the price. That said, the jury is still out on whether the potatoes help or not.
July 29 · ChrisI received my order quickly, I ordered 12 hornworms and received probably double that, and all of my Dubia roaches were of great size and all were alive as well. The negative reviews seem to be from winter, and flukers has an option to stall shipment until temps rise or purchase a heating pad for the live insects. So maybe that was the issue for them. I have never had a bad shipment, I have always received all of my bugs (usually more than I ordered), and they have all been alive every time.
April 29 · Danielle WingateI’m not sure if it’s Fluker’s or the post office I should complain to. But I’ve had multiple orders to my home and the bugs/worms came right to the door, but I was visiting my mom and ordered more worms and they left them in the mailbox and by that night almost all of them were dead!!
