Choosing a pet store is an important decision for any pet owner in Vermont. Petco in Barre offers a wide range of products and services, making it a convenient one-stop-shop for many pet-related needs. The variety of supplies, particularly for less common pets like reptiles and fish, is a major draw. The availability of multiple shopping options, such as curbside pickup and delivery, also adds a layer of convenience that is highly valued by busy pet owners. These features make it a strong contender for anyone looking for accessibility and a wide selection.
However, it is also important to consider all available public feedback when making a choice. Some reviews raise concerns about the welfare of the animals in the store and the quality of customer service. One customer reported a negative experience with a large cricket purchase, citing poor customer service and a high number of dead insects. Another review, from a different perspective, expressed deep concern about the health of the reptiles, alleging that an injured bearded dragon was not taken to a vet despite staff requests. These points are important for potential customers to consider, as they relate to animal welfare and customer care. While these reviews highlight specific negative experiences, it's worth noting that they may not represent every customer's visit. As a large chain, experiences can vary. We encourage customers to visit the store and assess the environment for themselves to ensure it aligns with their personal standards for animal care and customer service before making a purchase.

May 17 · ashley messierEvery time I come in it seems that a reptile is injured or in an unsafe environment. Not just this location but every Petco. This time a bearded dragons tail had been bit and was clearly infected. I brought this up to a staff member and they said they told there manager multiple time but they refused to bring them to the vet. I don’t like shopping here and probably never will
August 27 · Cooper Coopthepoop11We brought our little Chihuahua to Petco for a grooming and when we picked him up, he looked great. The groomer was named Sky , and she did a wonderful job. Thankyou
August 29 · MykeIf I could give the “groomer” Hanna a zero I would. I brought my 1 year old dog into get a bath and nail trim. When I picked him up she said she didn’t clip his nails because he growled at her. My mother and I were shocked. He NEVER growls at people. I asked her if he showed his teeth when he growled. She said “Well it was a really quiet growl” I said “So he was “talking” to you and I laughed. She was going to charge me for the nail trim I told her she better not. When I got my dog home I went to pet his head and he flinched away. He NEVER did that before going there. His nails were all chipped and broken. She was mean and rough. I think Hanna should be fired.
June 23 · Rebecca TozierI wish they had better enclosures for their parrots. It always looks so sad and sterile where they keep them.
