Reef Keepers Aquariums Introduce
For residents of North Carolina, particularly in and around the Clayton area, who are passionate about aquatic life, finding a dedicated and knowledgeable fish store can be a true treasure. While many large pet stores may offer a small section for fish, they often lack the expertise and specialized inventory that a truly dedicated tropical fish store can provide. Reef Keepers Aquariums has filled this niche, establishing itself as a premier destination for both seasoned aquarists and newcomers to the hobby. This small business is more than just a retail space; it's a hub for the aquatic community, offering not only a beautiful selection of fish but also the expert guidance needed to create and maintain thriving underwater ecosystems.
The store has built a strong reputation for the health and quality of its livestock. As one customer noted, the fish they purchased have consistently been healthy and happy, a testament to the care and attention given to the animals in the store's care. Reef Keepers Aquariums also stands out for its impressive variety, offering both marine (saltwater) and freshwater fish. A particularly noteworthy feature, mentioned by a customer, is their selection of larger fish. Unlike many other shops that primarily sell juveniles, Reef Keepers Aquariums offers more mature and visually stunning specimens, providing a more immediate and grand display for those looking to create an impressive aquatic setup.
The welcoming and knowledgeable staff is another key component of the store's appeal. Customers consistently praise the team for being great, helpful, and patient. Whether you're a first-time aquarium owner with many questions or a seasoned hobbyist troubleshooting a complex issue, the staff's expertise is a valuable resource. They can provide advice on everything from water parameters and equipment to the specific needs of different fish and coral species. This level of personalized customer service is a hallmark of a great small business and helps to demystify the often-complex world of aquariums for beginners.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I started going here once they started intro the fresh water varieties of fish and equipment. The staff has been great every time my wife or I had went. Every fish we've purchased has been healthy and happy. Will definitely return.
June 02 · Jacob MelecioMy son really wanted to go to the aquarium, but it was completely booked up all weekend so we ended up at Reed Keepers Aquarium shop instead and my son was so happy to see all the fish! They have some really beautiful selections and some of the largest fish we've seen at any shop before! Most shops only sell baby fish, but not here!
June 07 · Acadia Rose-MeyerTop tier guys at this store. The young man who was there was exceptionally knowledgable and, upon my first visit, was responsive when I asked "got anything cool to know about?" The owner showed up while I was checking things out and addressed the price of some really nice corals that he priced really competitively and I think I have found my new regular coral spot. I live in Durham, NC so I will drive past two LFS to come here due to the service and quality. Top notch experience guys.
February 28 · James DanielsI have been in reef store from Raleigh and Durham, how this store is different than other commercial storeOwner Bill is very knowledgeable and also give you opportunity to shop and ask question as you directly speaking with the ownerSo about the difference, this store doesn’t carry lots of small frag, instead it has lots of colonies, however the priced of the colonies are very competitive to any other frag, so basically with little higher price you are getting the entire colony. The colonies of corals are amazing and very healthy , usually you can see 5 to 10 such colonies in one single store but Reef Keepers Aquarium has 50+ at a time I visited, may be moreThe store display tanks are jam packed with coral and look like coral forest and not some fancy frag show, it’s treat just to visit the store and watch the dense coral tank , feels like real underwaterThe store has many rare corals/fish/ invertebrates, everything may not be visible , you just need to ask the ownerIt has nice fish collection also , for first time I see Gem Tang in store display to sell, some other rare fish like Majestic angle, dogface etc, I didn’t focus much on the fish tanks but its also fully stocked
March 18 · Amit HoreAmazing Store. This is my 5th time driving 45 minutes to them and I am finally remembering to write this. The advice has always been solid and the owner, Bill is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about reef keeping that you would be hard pressed to find a comparable source elsewhere. On top of that they way they source their fish and the ethics they do business with are second to none. Today we got a Queen Angel, a Hawaiian Black Trigger, & a Bariene Tang and I can honestly say they are the best looking fish I have seen in the last 10 years easy. Where other stores sell sick fish these guys take the time to source them direct, and ensure they are healthy prior to sell, The end result is you get a fish that lives its FULL LIFESPAN and not 8 months like most other store's fish do.Simply put, I have been in the aquarium hobby over 20 years and I will say this: IF YOU GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR FISH YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY.Are they a bit more expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for. In this case that extra gets you a quality happy fish. The drive is worth every minute and the fish are worth every penny he charges. Save yourself the trouble of messing with other places and go here from the start. Its worth it by far!
