Robin Zimmers Pets Introduce
Robin Zimmers Pets, a family-owned and operated full-service pet store, has been a central part of the Berks, Montgomery, and Chester County communities in Pennsylvania since 1989. Located at 51 E Philadelphia Ave in Boyertown, PA, 19512, the business prides itself on offering an expansive and diverse selection of pets, supplies, and services that cater to almost every type of pet owner. This commitment to variety positions Robin Zimmers Pets as a true one-stop shop for local Pennsylvania pet enthusiasts, moving far beyond the inventory of typical chain stores.
The store's inventory is remarkably broad, featuring puppies, kittens, small animals, birds, and tropical fish. Notably, Robin Zimmers Pets is known for housing one of the largest reptile rooms in the area, stocking a wide range of reptiles, amphibians, and related supplies. Beyond live animals, the shop stocks a "huge variety of pet supplies, food, gifts, treats, and toys," including premium pet food brands such as Hill's Science Diet, Blue Buffalo, and Merrick. They also offer a vast selection of live feeders—including pinkies, crickets, mealworms, and more—essential for reptile and fish keepers across the 19512 ZIP code.
However, potential patrons, particularly those interested in purchasing dogs, must approach this local business with caution and thorough due diligence. Customer feedback regarding the sale of puppies is deeply divided. One long-term review from "Mr. Jersey Shore's Mamma" shares a profoundly positive, heartfelt experience, expressing gratitude for the kindness and care received and celebrating over a decade of unconditional love from a dog acquired there. This speaks to the positive, familial side of the business.
Conversely, another recent customer, who purchased a Great Pyrenees puppy that sadly passed away at the young age of four due to a congenital heart defect, reports a devastating experience. This review alleges the store is associated with "puppy mill" practices, cites a failure to honor a "health guarantee," and expresses profound heartbreak and a sense of being "robbed and cheated." The customer was "shocked and appalled" by the alleged lack of transparency regarding the animal's health and the subsequent lack of response from the store. This dichotomy in customer experiences highlights a major, critical concern that Pennsylvania buyers of puppies and kittens must investigate independently before any commitment. While the store offers a wide selection of species and supplies, the sourcing and health status of their companion animal stock are subjects of serious customer complaint and require careful consideration by local users.

Robin Zimmers Pets is worth choosing for Boyertown, PA, residents who require a vast, centralized source for general pet supplies, niche feeders, and exotic animal products. The most compelling reasons to visit the store are its status as a full-service retailer and its specialization in areas often neglected by large chains. For instance, the presence of one of the area's largest reptile rooms and the extensive inventory of live feeders (such as various mice, rats, and worms) make it the undisputed local hub for reptile and advanced fish keepers. This depth of stock is invaluable for hobbyists in the 19512 ZIP code who need specialized nutrition and habitat materials.
Furthermore, the store's dedication to accessibility, evidenced by its wheelchair-friendly facilities and generous parking, ensures that the convenience extends to all members of the Berks County community. The availability of custom services, like aquarium setup and maintenance, also positions them as experts who can assist with complex aquatic projects, complementing the strong retail offering.
However, Pennsylvania buyers must exercise significant caution regarding the purchase of companion animals like puppies and kittens. The conflicting customer accounts—one praising the kindness and health guarantee, and another alleging ties to "puppy mill" practices, premature loss, and an ignored health guarantee—present a serious consideration. While the store offers facilities like the "Puppy Lounge" and claims to source from local families and breeders, the negative feedback about the health and ultimate loss of a puppy suggests a critical need for independent research, veterinary consultation, and inspection of all accompanying paperwork before committing to a purchase. If a user is seeking a wide variety of quality supplies and expertise for exotic pets, Robin Zimmers Pets is an essential local resource; however, the purchase of dogs and cats requires heightened vigilance.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Twelve years ago, you gave my daughter and I a gift that would change our life forever — our beloved Mr. Jersey Shore. From the moment he came into my world, he wasn’t just a pet — he became another child, our companion, our heart. I cannot put into words the depth of love and joy he has brought into my life every single day since.Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible kindness and care you showed us back then, and for entrusting me with such a precious soul. The way you treated both me and Mr. Jersey Shore was filled with respect, generosity, and love — and I’ve never forgotten that.Because of you, Lexi & I are experiencing over a decade of unconditional love, loyalty, and tons laughter. He is truly the greatest gift we've ever received, and I will always be grateful to you for that. You gave us more than a dog — you gave us family. With all my heart,Vita aka Mr.Jersey Shore's Mamma
June 09 · Dolce VAngelaMy beautiful, sweet, loving Charlie boy came into my life in 2020 from Zimmers Pets. He was a great pyrenees full of love and happiness at all times. He passed away suddenly on Sunday… The vet says from congenital heart defects. I am heartbroken and devastated that my Charlie only lived to be 4… He was robbed of the life he deserved. I did my research after telling my co-workers and friends about my loss, and found Zimmers Pets to be a puppy mill pet store… I could say I wish I had done my research on them before I brought Charlie home, but then I would have never had the amazing 4 years I did with him. I am shocked and appalled to read the horrific stories about these animals and how so many people have suffered premature loss of their babies. I reached out asking what this supposed “health guarantee” is they mention on their website and if they will honor it since Charlie is gone… Nothing. Not even a reply. I’m so distraught and I can only blame the people who knew they gave me an unhealthy puppy from the start… I did everything I could to give him the life he deserved and I feel robbed and cheated. I hope you change your ways and do better by the animals and giving proper information from your “veterinarians”… A simple truthful comment when I chose him could have saved his life if I knew I’d need to pursue further testing and could have sought guidance on how to extend his lifespan as long as possible. You have to lay your heads down at night knowing you are crushing the hearts of your community with your deceptive health-guaranteed puppies. Shame on you… all of you.
March 17 · Kim WatkinsThe animals are treated terribly and they gave me terrible advice on how to take care of my lizard. They recommended my leopard gecko to have a 5 GALLON TANK which is insane and they said the heat lighting was completely unnecessary which is crazy cause geckos need a heat source. That poor baby was completely mistreated while there but thankfully he seems a lot better now. Another time I went to get crickets there to feed my gecko and the crickets smelled AWFUL and half of them were dead and not safe to eat so do not get bugs from there. Only reason I'm rating it 2 stars is cause of all the fun childhood memories I have there and the animals are adorable
August 08 · LisaI’ve been to this place many times. Everytime I visit, it smells. And I see animals in bad conditions. Puppies scared and trembling. Sitting with their own Feces. Or sleeping the time away. The newer pups seem energetic until they are not. I once adopted a guinea that was near death. Balding and scared. I had her for a year and she still was terrified of me. I tried everything to make her comfortable. She screamed in fear anytime I tried to reach her. I don’t think they are treating these pets right behind closed doors. And they set most the animals at a cheap price. Besides the puppies. Someone has to do something, because these babies deserve so much better. The associates seem nice, but I can’t ignore the fact that the animals seem terrified and in distress. And a lot of the animals seem sick and in need of serious help. I just feel like I can’t stay quiet. We have to do SOMETHING. It hurts my heart. I want to save them ALL.
April 17 · Valkyri GraulEveryone was very attentive, accommodating, personable, helpful, and informative. Recently got two of the absolute sweetest pups from there. Started with one, and came back 2 days later to pick up on of her sister's. They've been a wonderful addition to our family ❤️ thank you to all the kind staff that assisted my fiance and myself through the process. Welcome, Ember and Dahlia.
