The decision to choose a veterinary hospital for an emergency or specialized care is a critical one, and ACCESS Pasadena presents a powerful case for itself, especially when a pet's life is on the line. As one reviewer candidly states, "Yes — it’s expensive. ...But my cat Bobo needed surgery urgently, and this was the only place I fully trusted." This sentiment underscores the primary value of ACCESS Pasadena: its ability to provide life-saving, trustworthy, and expert care when it is needed most. While the cost is a significant factor, the transparency and compassionate delivery of information about risks and treatment options make the high price understandable for many.
It is important for local users in California to understand the distinction between this type of hospital and a general practice. ACCESS Pasadena is where you go for advanced, complex, or urgent cases, and the cost reflects the highly specialized skills, equipment, and round-the-clock staffing required for such care. However, as one contrasting review highlights, it is crucial for pet owners to feel empowered to ask questions about alternatives. While the second reviewer's experience was negative and they found a more affordable solution elsewhere, this also serves as a reminder that the best care involves a partnership between the vet and the owner. For those moments when a pet’s life is at risk and a specialized, advanced approach is the only way forward, ACCESS Pasadena’s reputation for expertise and professionalism makes it a reliable and top-tier choice for Californians.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I know a lot of people online warn against Access, but honestly, my experience with the Pasadena location was very positive. Yes — it’s expensive. I don’t have pet insurance and ended up spending over $10,000. But my cat Bobo needed surgery urgently, and this was the only place I fully trusted.Every staff member I interacted with — from the front desk to the nurses and doctors — was incredibly kind, professional, and thorough. They explained every step of the treatment plan and were transparent about all the risks, which made a stressful situation much easier to manage. The hospital itself is also very clean and modern — it honestly felt more like a human hospital than a vet clinic. Working with them was a smooth, reassuring experience despite the high cost.If you’re in an emergency and budget isn’t the top priority, I would definitely recommend Access Pasadena. It’s not cheap, but in my experience, it’s a trustworthy and compassionate place.
June 03 · Beini JinI brought my cat in for severe anemia, and Dr. Tracy’s only recommendation was three blood transfusions and a three-day hospital stay costing around $10,000 with no guarantee it would work. When I asked about more affordable options, I was bluntly told there were none and that my cat would likely bleed out if I didn’t at least try .The way this was delivered left me feeling hopeless and I was seriously pushed toward euthanizing my cat because they made it seem like there was no hope and no other way forward. Until I decided to take my cat home and got a second opinion at Dr. Domotor’s Animal Hospital the next day . They immediately suggested a steroid treatment to help her blood levels. Two weeks later, my cat is healthy and back to normal and the medicine almost around $41 which is crazy to think about how affordable it was that fixed my cat with just medicine and I didn’t need to spend 10k ! Also it’s incredibly upsetting that the first clinic offered no alternatives. It felt like they cared more about money than actually helping my pet.
July 11 · jocelyn barreraI really loved this clinic, they helped my cat cross the rainbow bridge in the best way possible for his situation. We spent about 3 hours, uninterrupted to say goodbye and the vet offered a solution to hopefully not let him pass out be in too much pain before the rest of our family arrived. Rondo was absolutely everything to us and it seems they understood that. I requested to see him as he was stabilized in the back, they gladly let us in to pet him and talk to him. I also requested if they could get his whiskers after along with another set of pawpad prints and his nose. They put the whiskers tied in a little string with the bags of clippings of fur which were all free keepsakes, and really priceless. They didn't tell us though that if he had another seizure in there they can give him more medicine into his IV. He had about 3 more seizures in the exam room as my dad and sister weren't ready to let go of him. When it came time to push the button, the vet was kind and explained the process calmly and professionally and let us hold him after he was gone. The total was about $1k for a goodbye and have him live just a little longer for us to be ready. It's a miracle my dad was able to afford it all upfront as they have no payment plans. I'm glad he's not suffering anymore.
May 19 · Cat CruzThey saved my dogs life twice this week :( was very quick, very professional, and realistic. Inside is really nice!Shout out to jasmin, Dr Cole, Dr Wong!
May 25 · Kathy ChangVery nice staff and Dr's... It's like you're in a nice "human" ER...I take that back... Its nicer... They are compassionate, yet realistic and understanding about the horrible choices we sometimes have to make based upon financial means. Their prices seem high... but they're not... I checked around... It costs a lot to be open 24/7...Bottom line, in my humble opinion, they run a great hospital. People... Pray for my Halo...
