June 07 · Nadine GonzalezOur beloved dog, Trux, passed away unexpectedly at our home while we were on vacation 300 miles away. Upon learning of his passing, a friend brought his body to White Plains Animal Hospital. After four phone conversations and our friend’s confirmation at drop-off, the hospital assured us they would hold Trux’s body until my wife arrived. Our friend even offered to FaceTime us, but was told, “She’s coming at 2 PM, and we will hold him for her.” My wife drove five hours to say a final goodbye to our boy, as the hospital promised to prepare Trux for her visit. However, when my wife called to confirm she was 30 minutes away, she was informed that Trux’s body had already been sent to the cemetery. After pressing for an explanation, the staff offered to have the truck return his body but warned that he was “very contorted” and suggested she wouldn’t want to see him. As a consolation, they mentioned taking his paw prints and offered a brief “sorry.” This failure denied us the opportunity to say goodbye to our beloved boy and family member, compounding our grief. This was not just a mistake—it was a profound disregard for our explicit wishes and their own promises. The lack of empathy and professionalism during such a heartbreaking time is unacceptable. We strongly recommend choosing an animal hospital that demonstrates the compassion and empathy needed in such a sensitive moment.
