Arrowhead Animal Hospital offers several key features that make it a notable option for pet owners in the Blue Jay area. The following highlights are based on public information and customer feedback, providing a balanced perspective on what the practice offers.
- Local and Convenient: For residents on the mountain, the hospital’s location is a significant benefit, eliminating the need to travel down to the city for care, as highlighted by a customer who says it's "even better that they're on the mountain too!"
- Straightforward and Honest Communication: One customer review describes the main vet as "a little gruff" but appreciates his "straight facts" and "0 nonsense" approach. This indicates a focus on genuine pet health over upselling unnecessary services, which can be a relief for many pet owners who want transparent care.
- Compassionate and Gentle Staff: The review from a multi-pet owner notes that "the staff is always very caring towards the animals and they're very gentle with the scared ones," which is a crucial aspect of good veterinary care.
- No-Pressure Sales: Unlike some clinics that can be "like car dealerships," Arrowhead Animal Hospital is described as not being pushy with their offerings, even with comprehensive packages like those for new puppies.
- Accessibility: The facility is fully wheelchair-accessible, including the entrance, parking lot, and restroom, making it an inclusive space for all clients.
It is important to acknowledge that not all experiences are the same, as evidenced by a second review. This feedback highlights potential issues with perceived overcharging and a rigid policy regarding follow-up consultations. The customer felt "taken advantage of" and was frustrated by the need for a new emergency appointment and fee for what they felt should have been a simple phone consultation. This suggests that while the vet may be personally kind, the clinic’s administrative policies could be a point of frustration for some.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fantastic vet! We've been through a good number of vets in the past and no one has provided the level of care that these folks can! It's even better that they're on the mountain too!We have 2 dogs and a cat, so we are here fairly often just for routine stuff. The staff is always very caring towards the animals and they're very gentle with the scared ones.I'm not sure what the main vet's name is, but he seems to be very good! He may be a little gruff, but there's 0 nonsense whenever I see him. He tells you the straight facts and his only concern seems to be on the health of your pet. Some vets can be like car dealerships and try to sell you all sorts of extra stuff but that never happens here. They offer a basic and fairly priced package for new puppies, but they're by no means pushy when they present it.As long as we live reasonably close, we will continue to come here. Even if we move back down the mountain.
March 21 · Andrew LambethI’m a 20 year mountain local that supports and champions local businesses but this is one business i must speak against. We have had two bad experiences here— both times feeling taken advantage of by overcharging and upselling of services. Both visits (two different dogs) required follow up and they were uninterested in helping me unless I would come in again so they can start the billing all over again. My dog was seen on a Monday. After a $700+ visit that ended in being sent home with just simple antibiotics, our dog was not improving. I was told when I left on Monday “call if he gets worse.” Which is what i did today (Thursday). I was met with “no appointments available” but we can get you in since it’s an emergency…but you guessed it! For an extra emergency fee. I asked if i could have a two minute phone consult with vet; I didn’t feel like that was asking too much given the cost of services I already paid. But nope— I must come in for a new consultation at the emergency price. The lady on the phone hung up on me without a “thank you” or “goodbye.”As stated above, this was our second attempt at using this vet— and had similar experiences both times.I do offer two stars instead of one because the veterinarian was kind and seemed genuinely interested in helping my dog. The rest of the experience was lackluster.
April 24 · Daniel MeersI’ve taken my cats here twice before. I was seen by two different vets and they were both great. They listened to my concerns, were good with both of my cats and they were upfront with costs. They gave me quotes and breakdowns before moving forward with anything. I’ll always take my boys here.
July 24 · BridgeHey everyone. I cannot say enough about the people working here. I rescued the kitten from an homeless encampment and it had torn ligaments. I brought the kitten which the doctor ended up naming princess. So I have to say princess is doing well. They were super friendly, super knowledgeable, and very compassionate, I’ve never had a cat before or let alone a kitten. And they were super helpful. Whenever I’m in Arrowhead, Bluejay or surrounding area I will always bring my animals here.Thank you so much to the staff and the doctor for EverythingYou guys are amazing.
April 28 · Steve CarmichaelVery compassionate team here from the front desk to the techs. And reasonably priced. Especially when compared to others in the area. My cat loves visiting this vet office!
