When considering a veterinary care provider for your pet in New Jersey, it is crucial to weigh all aspects of the service. While Banfield Pet Hospital in Carlstadt provides a wide range of services, including advanced diagnostics and surgery, pet parents should be aware of the experiences of other local customers. Reviews from past and current clients indicate potential issues with communication, wait times, and a perception of overcharging for services. The provided testimonials highlight concerns about misdiagnoses and a feeling of being overlooked, which can be very stressful for a pet owner. A review from a customer who had been with the hospital since their dog was a puppy notes a decline in service, raising questions about consistency.
On the other hand, for some pet owners, the hospital's status as a part of a larger, well-established network may be appealing. The availability of services like comprehensive exams, spaying and neutering, and a veterinary pharmacy on-site offers a level of convenience. Additionally, the hospital's commitment to accessibility, as evidenced by its wheelchair-friendly features, is a positive attribute. However, the decision to choose this particular hospital should be an informed one. The concerns raised by local pet parents about communication and diagnosis, while potentially not representative of every experience, suggest that thorough research and perhaps a discussion with the staff about these issues would be prudent before entrusting them with your pet's care. For many local residents, the priority is finding a vet with a solid reputation for accurate diagnosis and clear communication. The provided reviews and information should be considered carefully in this decision-making process.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place stinks. They missed a crucial diagnosis on my dog which eventually turned out to be meningitis which unfortunately was fatal. Took my dog for two visits and was told all was okay here cause bloodwork and X-rays were good although he clearly was not okay. Got a second opinion from another vet and the vet IMMEDIATELY referred us to a neurologist. If you care about your pet DO NOT bring them here.
August 30 · Josue IrizarryThis Banfield location has to be the worst. I have called multiple times and was put on hold for over 30 minutes. My calls get sent to voicemail or just get hung up on. My dog has been there since 9am for a check up and it is already 3. I don’t understand why they can’t pick up the phone. It is always like this. I have anxious bulldog and I don’t want to risk him getting stressed out. I understand we can be overbearing as pet parents but that’s our job. I haven’t heard back at all from them and this is extremely unprofessional. I have been going to this Banfield since he was a puppy and their service has gone down in these past couple years. He was even diagnosed with an ear infection he didn’t have, and they charged my parents for medication that he didn’t need. I overlooked this since it was the first time it happened, but Banfield has a reputation of overcharging services. It is all over the internet. Pet parents please do your research before coming here. We will be changing to a local vet due to this unacceptable behavior from them.
April 24 · Nicole CarreraBanfield Pet Hospital in Carlstadt has to be the worst veterinary clinic I have ever taken my cat to. Not only are they expensive but the vet doesn’t take the time to explain anything to you. Instead they talk about other issues your pet has besides the reason you’re there in the first place. I brought my cat in for a sick visit and brought a sample of his stool in for testing, although I wasn’t asked to do so. They charged me for the stool screening… but lost his stool sample!!!! It was almost a month after the visit and I called to check on the results only to find out they didn’t have the results since the stool was lost. They told me to come back in the following day with another stool sample. I did come in the following day, but not with a stool sample - I came in to request a refund. And they were still adamant on me bringing in another stool sample for testing. Why would I bring in another one if that could possibly get lost as well? Warning: Stay away from this place and go elsewhere!
April 14 · Gaetana AmatoAbsolute worst facility to take your pet too. I found one single Vet that seems to know what he is talking about. Other vets will call you back, every other word will be “um”, give you misinformation, and make you wait even more for a resolution. Do not take your animals here. Dr Seo is the only vet there that will take the time to explain what’s going on, why it may be going on, things you can do on your own to monitor symptoms, it’s a shame that he’s only there on Mondays. I will be calling back on Monday in hopes to speak to him directly.I have been there twice over the course of 3 weeks and I am STILL waiting on a proper prescription. Do not go here unless you want your pockets drained in exchange of no resolution.
April 17 · Emily GrandaWhat a horrible place. I scheduled my cat to be put down because he is suffering. They scheduled the date and time to let us know when to bring our animal. When we arrived for his appointment, they were closed. No courtesy, call no email, no text…NOTHING! I had a run and call a bunch of places to see if I can get them last minute to put down my cat so he wouldn’t suffer. Our emotions are all over the place and this place can’t even let you know that they’re closed early?? Funny how quick Banfield is to let you know when they have a bill that you have to pay them but to turn around and let you know that something happened at the place and they have to close it down. It’s difficult for them to do. I can’t see why it’s so hard to have a list of patients that are supposed to come in with their animals and you call them and let them know you have to reschedule because there might be an emergency. I WILL be going to corporate and to ALL SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS because this has been the worst day of my life. Banfield has done nothing but put icing on the horrific loss of my pet and since everybody likes proof, Please see the pictures below of the time and date we were there and the times and dates that they’re supposed to be opened. To call this place professional is a joke. I urge people to never take your animals there since they can’t show any professionalism in their job or how they care for your animal.
