This article is for New Yorkers who need a new level of expertise for their pet's health challenges, highlighting the unique and crucial role this center plays in the local veterinary community. It's a place where complex cases find clear answers and effective solutions.
North Country Veterinary Referral Center is an animal hospital with a specific focus on complex and difficult-to-diagnose cases. As a "referral center," its primary function is to work in collaboration with a pet's regular veterinarian to provide advanced diagnostics and specialized treatment. However, as customer reviews suggest, they also serve as a place for pet owners to seek a vital second opinion. One customer's experience highlights this perfectly: "I have been taking my cat to another animal hospital due to eye problems...Finally I decided to get another opinion here and they figured out what was wrong her first visit. Definitely recommend." This shows the center's ability to quickly and accurately identify issues that may have stumped other professionals, bringing much-needed relief to both pets and their owners. The team's expertise is evident in their success with emergency situations, too, as another reviewer noted after their dog received "emergent treatment from a bad reaction." The center's mission is to provide effective, compassionate, and precise care when it is needed most.
Location and accessibility are critical, especially when dealing with a pet’s health issues. North Country Veterinary Referral Center is conveniently located at 454 Queensbury Ave, Queensbury, NY 12804, USA. This central location makes it easily accessible for residents of Queensbury and the surrounding areas. The center has made a conscious effort to ensure that their facility is accessible to everyone in the community. It features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. These thoughtful accommodations demonstrate a commitment to serving all pet owners, making it easier for them to bring their animals in for care without physical barriers. The availability of on-site amenities, such as a restroom, also adds to the overall convenience and comfort for clients during what can often be a stressful visit. The hospital also operates on a system where appointments are recommended, which helps to ensure that each patient receives dedicated, focused attention.
While the provided information does not include a detailed list of services, the nature of a "veterinary referral center" and an "animal hospital" suggests a broad range of advanced capabilities. Based on industry standards, a facility of this type would typically offer services that go beyond basic veterinary care. These would include:
Advanced Diagnostics: Utilizing cutting-edge technology such as digital radiology, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory to get a precise diagnosis for complex conditions that may not be easily identifiable through a standard exam.
Specialized Treatment Plans: Creating customized and targeted treatment protocols for chronic diseases, difficult-to-manage illnesses, and other challenging cases.
Urgent and Emergency Care: Providing immediate medical attention for sudden, severe, and urgent health problems, such as the flea reaction mentioned in a customer review.
Surgical Services: Performing a variety of surgical procedures, potentially including complex soft tissue or other advanced surgeries that are often referred from general practices.
Second Opinions and Consultations: Offering professional evaluations and expert advice for pet owners who are looking for an alternative perspective on a persistent health issue.
Comprehensive Pet Health Care: While a referral center, they are also an animal hospital, indicating they can address a wide range of health issues, from initial diagnosis to treatment and recovery.
The standout features and highlights of North Country Veterinary Referral Center are clear from the experiences shared by its clients.
Exceptional Diagnostic Acuity: The most significant highlight is the center's ability to accurately diagnose problems that other veterinarians have struggled with. The story of the cat with the persistent eye problem is a powerful example of how the team's specialized knowledge can make a real difference in a pet's quality of life.
Effective and Prompt Treatment: The review about the dog's bad reaction to fleas demonstrates that the center is not only skilled at diagnosis but also at providing immediate and effective treatment for urgent conditions, leading to a quick recovery.
Welcoming and Accessible Environment: The wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking, and restroom are a vital highlight. For pet owners who may be stressed about their animal’s condition, these features remove an added layer of difficulty and make the visit as smooth as possible for all.
Commitment to Referrals and Second Opinions: The very name of the center, "Veterinary Referral Center," communicates its specialized role. June 17 · Cortney LebelWe took our dog Savannah in for an emergent treatment from a bad reaction she was having from fleas. They prescribed her an antibiotic and now she is nearly back to normal running around playing with the other dogs.
November 14 · Sean HolcombWe brought our Female dog in for shot updates the staff seemed friendly till our dog left with a female staff member into the back to receive them not in front of us for whatever reason never experienced that before with any animal we have had before at a vet! As the door shut we hear a few staff ooh and ahh then a male say be careful with that breed of dog? Our dog may be a Rottweiler but she’s the sweetest girl and has never shown any aggression what so ever! At check out we scheduled her booster shots for a few weeks later we showed up for that appointment 10minutes early and there was one front counter staff member that was very rude to the guy in front of us he complained to us and two others in line on the way out we were not helped by her but the other staff member she went into the back then the rude one came back out asked us if we need help I said no thank you we have been helped she replied can I do anything for you? I said we are set just waiting and she rolled her eyes and huffed. We waiting 30mins and people that came in after us went in rooms we calmly said what’s going on we have been here a while they got brought in first. Booster shots should take 20mins tops she then snapped back saying we were not even on the schedule and we’re being fitted in I don’t know what you want from us! Mind you this appointment was scheduled before we left almost a month ago!A few weeks later we got a male puppy unfortunately he has two seizures at 11weeks and passed away. In the last 24hrs we paid this vet almost $600 to do necropsy I drop our poor puppy off around 9am they called around 3 saying it was complete and nothing was out of the ordinary no internal bleeding, no trauma, no organ damage, nothing but food in stomach, if we would like labs sent in it would be at least another $400 or more depending what they sent in but usually reveals nothing she then mentioned cremation I asked how much that was the staff member said $60 in a group or $150 alone I spoke with my wife we decided on alone the staff member said would you like a paw print I said yes please she then put me on hold then came back and said okay $205 I said wait you said $150 alone sales tax is only 7% she goes oh the print is $40! WHAT! You offer me a paw print of my dog with no mentioned of fee then charge me for it? $40 For ink on a paw pressed on a sheet of paper! Thanks! They wouldn’t let us pay when we picked our boy back up after cremation payment was demanded by card over phone before he would be sent for cremation like there was a rush I said when can I pick him up she said two weeks not this Tuesday next Tuesday they already came and left for the week. She said the doctor will call you tonight.Tonight came and went no call with zero answers to what would have caused his sudden death we have called twice today trying to make contact one of the front counter girls just said he was bitten by a Poisonous snake probably idk I’m no expert but it was probably something poisonous the doctor will call you today.Unfortunately compassion for others isn’t guaranteed and tact doesn’t come natural it’s taught! Stopping in Hoping for answers 8/3/22 at 3:20pm the two younger staff members were compassionate and helpful unfortunately the doctor who performed the necropsy is not in and no report is printable, try to be patient.Rest easy Cruz we love you, always will your a good boy! Hopefully we have you back soon.
