Choosing a veterinary hospital is a critical decision for any pet owner in New Jersey. We all want a practice that not only has the medical expertise to handle any situation, but also the compassion and professionalism to make us feel secure in our choices. Princeton Vets, also known as the Animal Hospital at Kingston & Blawenburg, is a local facility in Skillman, New Jersey, that provides a wide array of veterinary services. Like many veterinary practices, it has its champions and its critics. This article will offer a balanced and in-depth look at what this hospital provides, using the provided information and real customer reviews to help local pet owners make an informed decision about their pet’s care.
The customer reviews for Princeton Vets paint a picture of a practice with a mix of experiences. One review, from a client of seven years, offers effusive praise, calling the hospital the "GOLD STANDARD for care of our animals." This customer highlights the staff's dedication, care, and thoroughness, crediting Dr. Tokiwa ("Dr. T!") with saving their dog's life with a "tricky surgery." The review also mentions the compassion shown during a difficult decision to euthanize a pet and the vet techs' ability to make a large, anxious dog feel comfortable. This positive feedback speaks to a high level of medical competence and genuine empathy.
However, another review presents a stark contrast, citing a "lack of professionalism and expertise." This customer's complaints include poor communication, organizational issues leading to a dog being left in a cage for over ten hours, and being billed for "unnecessary services." The review also notes a significant delay in receiving vital test results and a reluctant recommendation to a specialist. This feedback, while a direct counterpoint to the first review, highlights potential areas of concern for new clients and underscores the importance of clear communication and streamlined processes in a veterinary practice. The dual nature of these reviews suggests that client experiences may vary.

The hospital’s significant strengths are its advanced medical capabilities and the clear compassion of its team, as highlighted by a long-term client. The ability to handle complex surgeries, offer mobile ultrasounds, and provide in-house diagnostics means this is a clinic that practices "big medicine" in a potentially more personal setting. Princeton Vets: Animal Hospital at Kingston & Blawenburg Reviews
The Animal Hospital and its staff have set the GOLD STANDARD for care of our animals. I've been beyond thrilled with all of our experiences here over the last seven years that we've been clients. We've been bringing all six of our animals (three dogs, three cats) here, and Dr Tokiwa (Dr T!) and his staff have always taken the time and care to thoroughly understand our animals and their needs. They have not stopped at their first diagnosis, but have gone on to make sure that they were able to recommend the very best treatment possible. Dr. T saved the life of my favorite girl-dog with a very tricky surgery. He has been compassionate when we decided, for behavioral reasons, that our three-year-old stray needed to be euthanized (such a painful decision that it changed the course of my life), and all the staff have taken the time to make my big 86lb goofy dog feel comfortable about getting a needle stuck into him (he howls like a teenager). Our cats have had their own set of unusual diagnoses, and never once did I feel the need to second-guess the advice that I was getting from them. Oh, and last but by no means least, the vet techs have been awesome in the quality of care and questioning that they give. Guys, keep on doing what you're doing because it's awesome! You're worth every penny. I'm only sorry that we're moving house to Connecticut next week and I'm going to lose you all.
July 03 · Karen WylieThis business lacks the professionalism and expertise that you should expect from a veterinary practice. When our dog was sick, they left her inside of a cage for over 10 hours because their office couldn't appropriately schedule the visiting specialist, and they couldn't effectively communicate with families about expectations. In addition, they've tried to bill me twice for unnecessary services because they lack the coordination and organization to appropriately manage their facility. Lastly, it took them over 10 business days to communicate vital test results for our dog, and they only reluctantly (when we decided to leave the practice) decided to recommend that we visit a specialist, although this is what was warranted since the tests were completed. I would recommend that you NOT use this practice - your dog or cat will thank you for it!
August 09 · Charles AltWe've been taking our cats to the Animal Hospital at Kingston for several years, and we've always been impressed by the quality and consistency of care they've received. Recently, when one of our cats got sick, Dr. Schwartz went above and beyond in treating him, and then made sure to check in with us on multiple occasions to make sure his condition was continuing to improve. Suffice it to say we won't be taking our cats anywhere else for their medical care -- the treatment they receive here is superb.
August 10 · Chris FlorioAll the staff here are fantastic! We've been coming in for about 10 years with four cats and a dog and all have had amazing treatment. Dr. T and the whole team has helped our cats: first with brain cancer, the second with an intestinal blockage and hyperthyroidism, third's weightloss, and fourth's hysteria/aggression at every office visit. They've been there every step through our dog's health problems despite his fear of strangers (at first we brought him in with a muzzle, but it's the only place now where he is never aggressive towards strangers), including two CCL tears and corrective surgeries, as well as a tumor resection with a very long healing process. There are no words to describe how grateful I am for the care they've provided over the years. I passionately recommend to everyone I know that they come to these offices.
March 26 · Erin ConnerThey are nice and caring but their prices are ridiculous. There are plenty of good vets that won't rip you a new a hole every time you bring your pet in.
