Veterinary Emergency Group Introduce
In the world of pet ownership, one of the most stressful experiences is facing an unexpected medical emergency. When a beloved pet is in distress, having immediate access to a reliable, compassionate, and expert emergency veterinary service is not just a convenience—it's a necessity. For residents of California, particularly in the Santa Monica region, Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) provides a critical lifeline. Unlike standard veterinary clinics, VEG is a dedicated emergency service, offering round-the-clock, on-site care when it matters most. This article will delve into what makes VEG a unique and invaluable resource for local pet owners, from their specialized services to their deeply empathetic approach, ensuring that during a crisis, you and your pet are in the best possible hands.
Veterinary Emergency Group is strategically located at 2700 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90403, USA. This central and easily accessible location is crucial for an emergency service, as it allows pet owners to quickly reach the facility from various parts of Santa Monica and the surrounding areas. The clinic is designed to be fully accessible to all members of the community, featuring a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, seating, and toilets. This inclusive approach extends beyond physical accommodations; VEG is also an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safe space, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and respected during a time of heightened stress. The facility's commitment to creating a safe and comfortable environment is evident in these thoughtful details. They accept various forms of payment, including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, adding a layer of convenience during an emergency when immediate financial transactions are often a concern.
As a specialized emergency veterinary service, VEG focuses on immediate and critical care for pets in crisis. They are an animal hospital and a veterinarian clinic rolled into one, but with an emphasis on urgent situations. Their services are designed to address a wide range of emergencies, and they also have a broader scope to care for a diverse range of animals.
Emergency Vet & Pet Emergency Care: Their primary service, providing immediate medical attention for sudden illnesses, injuries, and other urgent health crises.
Birds: Specialized care for avian emergencies, which many general veterinarians may not be equipped to handle.
Exotic animals: Expert care for a variety of non-traditional pets, including reptiles, small mammals, and others.
Large animals: While their focus is on domestic pets, they also have expertise in managing emergencies involving larger animals, providing a comprehensive safety net for the community.
VEG’s approach to emergency care is what truly sets it apart. Real customer reviews consistently praise the team's exceptional compassion and clinical excellence. Unlike other emergency animal hospitals that may focus on profit, VEG is known for its genuine care and a business model that doesn't "nickel and dime" pet owners during an already difficult time. The team, including veterinarians, specialists, and support staff, are described as not only incredibly knowledgeable and clinically excellent but also deeply empathetic. This is particularly evident in their handling of end-of-life care. One touching review describes how the team provided a private, peaceful, and dignified environment for a pet's final moments, going above and beyond to ensure both the pet and the owner felt comforted and supported. This level of tenderness, such as wrapping a beloved cat in a cozy, heated bundle, demonstrates a "Rolls Royce of veterinary medicine" experience that prioritizes humane treatment and emotional support.
Compassionate and Empathetic Staff: The team’s kindness and warmth are consistently highlighted, making a difficult time more bearable for pet owners.
No Nickel-and-Diming: Customers appreciate that the focus is on providing the best possible care, not on excessive billing for every little thing.
Specialized Care for All Creatures: The ability to treat birds and exotic animals, in addition to dogs and cats, fills a significant gap in emergency veterinary services.
Inclusive and Safe Environment: A clear commitment to being an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safe space ensures a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
Round-the-Clock Availability: As a dedicated emergency service, they are available 24/7 to provide critical care without an appointment.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been to many emergency vets in the last few years. I’m not sure how I didn’t know about VEG before. I felt the vets really cared and didn’t try to nickel and dime me like other animal hospitals in the area (I won’t name names but if you’re a pet owner I’m sure you know which big name one I’m talking about). While in the end my kitty wasn’t cured (cancer sucks :( ), they did all they could.I have other cats so in the event I need another emergency visit, I will def be coming back to this hospital.
July 12 · Nathalie ChanVEG provided the most extraordinary care during one of the hardest nights of my life. My beloved cat Ba — a deeply sentimental rescue from Shanghai and the last connection to my late brother — came in with multiple serious health issues and was, sadly, too far gone to save. From start to finish, the VEG team treated both of us with compassion, warmth, and clinical excellence. Dr. Lawrence Crossfield, specialist Melanie, and the entire staff were exceptional — incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and deeply empathetic. The level of care we received was truly the Rolls Royce of veterinary medicine. When it came time to make the painful decision to put Ba to sleep, they handled everything with such tenderness and grace. We were given a private room, and Ba was wrapped in a cozy, heated bundle to ensure she was comfortable and calm. It was peaceful and humane — and so thoughtfully done that it allowed me to already begin healing in the midst of my grief.I am forever grateful to VEG. I would trust them again in a heartbeat.
July 31 · Kimbel FarwellNothing needs to be done better. Absolutely perfect team. They were extremely quick first of all but the best thing is that they were able to work with my budget and I mean work with it very well. They were all so sweet and endearing, very welcoming and extremely gentle with my boy. I didn’t get everyone’s name. Miss mam at the front desk…love ya! Short hair, love the cut and thanks for being so gentle. Long black hair and ponytail was super sweet and Dr. Carolina you’re a blessing from God. Thank you all!
July 20 · Torie SimsI’m very grateful to Dr. Fabelo and the entire nursing team. My cat usually gets very stressed and aggressive at the vet, but the staff at VEG were incredibly patient and gentle with him. They were also efficient and transparent with the process. I was allowed to stay with my cat for the entire time, which helped a lot with managing his stress. I'd definitely recommend VEG to fellow pet parents.
May 24 · Fan LiangWe were seen right away, and the entire team answered all of my questions without hesitation. Their support and reassurance truly helped ease my mind during a stressful time. I also loved the open concept layout being included in everything that was happening made the experience feel transparent and comforting. I've never seen my dog so calm at a vet visit before, which speaks volumes about the environment and care provided. The receptionists were incredibly helpful and kind as well
