The practice is known for its efficient and professional service, a quality that is particularly appreciated in a city like New York. The front desk staff is consistently described as courteous and helpful, making the process of scheduling appointments and getting updates on your pet's condition seamless and stress-free. This efficiency, combined with the professional demeanor of the entire team, makes a visit to Westside Animal Hospital a positive experience.
The core of the practice is its dedicated and highly-praised veterinarians. Dr. Perez, in particular, is noted for being kind, thorough, and professional. He takes the time to ensure pets are comfortable and that owners are informed about every step of the process. This personalized attention, as one review attests, makes pet owners feel "completely confident" in the care their animals are receiving.

For New Yorkers, choosing Westside Animal Hospital is a decision to prioritize personalized, efficient, and compassionate care. The most powerful reason to choose this practice is the trust and positive experiences shared by their clients. The fact that a kitten had a "quick and easy recovery" after a neuter procedure, and the owner would "100% recommend this vet," speaks volumes about the quality of their surgical care and post-operative support. This is a practice that gets results, and the kindness of the staff makes the entire experience better.
Another key factor is their participation in low-cost programs, such as the one mentioned with a "friends of animals voucher." This demonstrates a commitment to making essential veterinary services accessible to a wider community. This is a significant benefit in an expensive city like New York. The positive feedback about the entire team, from the front desk to the doctor, highlights the cohesive and supportive environment they have created. It’s clear that the staff genuinely cares about the well-being of the animals they treat. For a pet owner seeking a clinic that feels like a family, where their animal will be treated with kindness and professionalism, Westside Animal Hospital is an excellent choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I bought my male kitten in 2024 to this office via the friend of animals voucher for a neuter. The office was quick to reply for an appointment request and was able to offer me an appointment within a reasonable time (in NJ spay/neuter appointments are booked weeks in advance). After the initial consultation with Dr Perez, who reviewed my cat’s vaccines and did blood work, my cat was able to be neutered the following week. The front desk receptionist was very courteous and kept me up to date on my pet’s condition. My kitten had a quick and easy recovery and was running around playing after three days (of course not recommended) but it’s been a year and all has been well. If I lived in NYC this would be a clinic that I would take my cats for regular visits.
May 06 · lidia funesIt’s been a year post op and do recommend this vet 100% , front desk is great and so is the Dr. , he is very kind, Wendy is doing great and will go back for any issues with any of my pets .
August 30 · joanna SUsed Friends of Animals certificate at this location for my cat’s spay back in July. It’s been about a month and my cat recovered beautifully. There is a required pre-exam before the actual appointment, about 2 weeks prior. This is an additional cost not included in the certificate, as well as micro-chip, etc. All total I spent about $700, which is a far cry from my days of using the now defunct-Whisker certificate which totaled to $280 (used at Brooklyn Roots pre-pandemic). Still, the cost I think was worth it given the care, speed and quality of the provider. Low-cost is not necessarily what I would mark them as however.Dr. Perez was a little brisk during the initial exam, but I had a good feeling once I saw how small the hospital was. It seems only a few animals can be housed at a time, which I vastly preferred to a larger hospital. The front attendant was super nice and answered all of my questions when I initially called to get a price estimate. Scheduling was fast and easy, I was able to book same day for appointments within the same month.Dr Perez was excellent at the stitching, and just from previous experience with animals on anesthesia, I have a hunch he didn’t ‘overdo’ it as my cat was groggy but very alert/aware immediately after I picked her up. She was trying to zoom around only a few hours after we got home. By 10-15 days she was completely healed, no hernia or protrusions.Westside is great and I wouldn’t hesitate bringing my cats here again!
August 27 · Alexis MaisonetI found WSAH through the FRIENDS OF ANIMALS service program.Dr. Perez bedside manner with the animals is incredible! He’s not much of a talker and has a quiet demeanor - but as a millennial, and first- generation American I get it, and I’m really just coming in for him to care and service my pup & he exceeded my expectations!Once he planted a kiss on my puppy, after the initial consult before the neutering, I knew my Simba was in good hands!Yes, I agree with the other reviews that it was a little pricier than other places, who partner with programs, such as Friends of Animals. I get that we are all ‘ballin on a budget’ - but $$ comes and goes? My dog’s health does not. So to me? It was worth it and this is Simba’s new and only vet (side note, he is my 3rd dog in life - I’ve had my fair share of vet experiences).I’d also like to add that, yes, corporations that offer veterinary services, are likely more affordable than what I paid. Nevertheless, we NEED to as a community to support our local businesses.*Leasing nor paying employees is cheap in this city, Dr. Perez is more than generous with his pricing, it’s literally the standard industry rate.*Lastly, I don’t know what those other reviewers were insinuating with him trying to “suggest” and “upsell” but he did not do that to me.I was straightforward and clear about what I needed and my budget, I also vetted myself on the standard industry rate of these procedures (the vaccines my dog was missing) to speak to the Dr and see if he could work with me. Literally all we need to do as a community is talk to and work with one another.Due to him doing this for the love of animals and not money, is clearly why he agreed and quickly got me scheduled.Oh, and the front desk personnel? AMAZING!!!Thanks for reading! I would 10/10 recommend this place to family and friends! ❤️🐶🦴- updating my review: we came to visit Dr. Perez today and (6) months later this is my Simba! Better than ever and spayed!
August 06 · Lianna LopezI’m so glad I found this place. After having disappointing experiences at several upper west side vets I finally found a place where I have great communication with the vet and vet tech, not nasty rude or incompetent service that I experienced at other vets. Also at one of my prior vets (Symphony) they misdiagnosed my cat as having normal testicles when he in-fact had one undescended testicle. Dr. Perez diagnosed my cat correctly and explained the procedure in detail and performed the surgery with much care. My cat is recovering well. The vet techs are very nice and they are easily reachable if you have questions and called to check in on my cat in recovery. I am very happy with the service here and will be taking all my cats here.
