When choosing a pet store in Pennsylvania, Pet Wonderland Inc is a business that presents both positive aspects and serious considerations for potential customers. On one hand, it is a long-standing small business that has served the Wilkes-Barre community for decades, offering a personal touch and a convenient one-stop-shop for pets and supplies. The positive reviews highlight joyful experiences of finding a new family member and receiving patient, helpful service.
On the other hand, it is imperative for potential customers to be aware of the serious allegations of racial discrimination that have been made against the owner of this business. As detailed in a very specific customer review, an individual alleges a verbal altercation with the owner that included a racial slur and a threat to call ICE, which they perceived as a discriminatory act based on their race. This customer also referenced a prior, similar lawsuit from 2000. While these are allegations from a customer's personal experience, they represent a significant and serious concern that should be taken into account. Choosing where to spend your money is a personal decision, and for many, it is a way to support businesses that align with their values of respect, equality, and human dignity.
Ultimately, what makes Pet Wonderland Inc worth choosing depends on what you, as a consumer, value most. If you are looking to support a local small business that has been in the community for a long time and provides convenient in-store shopping and a variety of pet-related products, it fits that description. However, if a business's reputation for human kindness and respectful conduct towards all community members is a critical factor in your decision-making, it is essential to consider the full range of public feedback available.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Bought my little baby from pet wonderland in Wilkes Barre and he fits in our family. He's so spoiled the lady who took care of us was very understanding in what I was looking for in an animal. She was patient with my daughter picking him out. I will return when I'm looking for his playmate. We named our little prince.Thank you for this little guy. He's a bundle of joy.
April 30 · Donna williamsI am a proud American citizen, a Hispanic woman, and a mother. I recently moved from New York to Pennsylvania — and never in my life had I experienced racial discrimination… until I encountered the owner of Pet Wonderland.Last week, I had a scheduled appointment with a realtor to view a property located directly across the street from this store, on busy Blackman Street where parking is very limited. My husband briefly stopped near the business while we waited for the realtor to arrive.Within minutes, the store owner, came out shouting across the street. Due to the traffic noise, I couldn’t hear him, so I crossed over to speak with him calmly and respectfully. Instead of listening, he screamed in my face and told me to get out of there. I tried to explain that we were waiting for our realtor and that we were not parked — just positioned to move once the agent arrived. But he continued yelling, getting close to my face in an intimidating and aggressive manner. Then, when he saw I wasn’t intimidated by his yelling, he said to me, “Should I call ICE?” — as if threatening me based on the assumption that I wasn’t a U.S. citizen because of the color of my skin. I told him firmly, “Go ahead and call.” He seemed surprised by my reaction. I am a citizen. So is my husband. So is my family. His threat meant nothing — but it said everything about him. What truly broke my heart is that my two young sons, just 7 and 4 years old, witnessed this entire encounter. They were visibly scared. That’s not the America I want for my children.Later, I did some research and found that back in 2000, this same man was sued for racial discrimination in a very similar case involving an African American man who was asked to leave the store because of the color of his skin. That was 25 years ago. Some things clearly haven’t changed. And I wonder how many people have remained silent out of fear — fear of being threatened with ICE or worse.I’m not afraid. And I will not be silent. To my fellow Hispanic, Black, Native, and non-white communities: please be cautious. Don’t give your name. Don’t give your money. Don’t give your dignity to someone who believes that your skin color makes you lesser. There are ways to ask people to move their vehicle — with respect, with decency, with human kindness. This man chose none of that.Let’s be clear: America is not a white country. It was built on Native land — taken from the original people who lived here long before any European ever set foot on it. We are not strangers here. We belong just as much — and we have the right to live without fear of discrimination.I’ve thought about taking legal action, but I’ve decided to leave this in God’s hands. Still, I will not stay quiet. And I hope this message reaches the people who need to hear it.
August 06 · Gee Bee Gee DeeI cope with the fact that that I shelled out a substantial amount of money to a greedy, unhealthy, selfish business/Industry to resuce my now dog. He is slowly becoming happier than the day I met him, but he still struggles with regular dog things. I attribute these behavioral issues to spending the first two years of his life locked up. He may never be a normal dog who likes walks, treats and toys - but at least he's happy in a loving home now.
April 12 · Charlotte RoskowskiWe bought our cat from there in October of 2009 when she was just 4 months old - She was the only kitten in the litter of many that came up to put her paws up to the window inside the cage as we stood from outside this Pet shop and looked in - We adopter 'Princess' the next day - Over the years this cat was more than a 'Pet',she was a Daughter to us and was beyond loved by me and my wife and was the perfect addition for us.We will forever thank you for being the place where we found our beloved 'Princess' who passed away late May of 2023 as she was 1 day from her 14th birthday...Thank you so much for having her, We miss her so bad and cry everyday without her but glad we stopped and looked in that outside window that morning that made our lives incredibly happy for near 14 years of joy...Keep on doing what you do :)
