Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital: Johnson Jay DVM Introduce
In the vast landscape of veterinary care in Arizona, finding a clinic that specializes in the unique needs of exotic pets can be a challenge. While most veterinary practices focus on dogs and cats, animals such as snakes, rabbits, birds, and reptiles have specific medical requirements that demand specialized knowledge and equipment. This is precisely the need that Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital, founded by Dr. Jay Johnson DVM, was created to fill. It is a full-service hospital devoted exclusively to the care of exotic pets, serving as a beacon for owners of unique animal companions throughout the state.
The hospital's philosophy is built on the principle that by focusing solely on exotic pets, they can provide the highest level of care possible. This specialized approach ensures that the veterinarians and staff are not only knowledgeable but also passionate about the well-being of these animals. The team is equipped to handle everything from routine wellness checks and **early disease detection** to complex **surgical procedures** and **critical care**. By providing a quiet environment free from the stress of barking dogs, the hospital is designed to minimize anxiety for its often-anxious patients. For anyone in Arizona with an exotic pet, this hospital represents a dedicated and expert partner in their pet's health journey.
Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital is conveniently located at **744 N Center St, Mesa, AZ 85201, USA**. Its central location in Mesa makes it an accessible option for pet owners throughout the East Valley, including Tempe, Chandler, and Gilbert. While it is a specialty clinic that draws clients from all over the state, its physical location is easy to find, which is crucial when dealing with a pet's health concerns.
The hospital is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible environment for all visitors. It features a **wheelchair-accessible car park**, a **wheelchair-accessible entrance**, and a **wheelchair-accessible toilet**. The facility also operates on an **appointments recommended** basis, which is essential for a specialty clinic of this nature. Scheduling ahead helps the staff prepare for your pet's specific needs and ensures that you receive timely and focused attention, even in urgent situations.
The range of services at Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital is extensive and specifically tailored for exotic animals. They offer a level of expertise and equipment that goes far beyond what a typical general practice could provide.

- **Surgical and Medical Care:** The team is highly skilled in both **Medical And Surgical Services**. This includes procedures like **Laser Surgery**, **spay and neuter** for exotic animals, and **surgical removal** of tumors. They also offer **Urgent Care Exam** and **Emergency Services** for critical situations.
- **Advanced Treatments:** Beyond standard care, they provide specialized therapies such as **Laser Therapy**, **Oxygen Therapy**, and **Stem Cell Therapy** for healing and pain management.

The hospital's reputation is built on a number of key features, as seen in both positive and negative customer reviews. These highlights offer a complete picture of what to expect from the practice.
- **Specialized Expertise:** A major highlight is the exclusive focus on exotic animals. Customers consistently praise the veterinarians, such as Dr. Lewis, for being "kind, caring, and very knowledgeable." This specialization ensures that pets receive the best possible care for their specific species.
- **Dedicated Staff:** The staff is often described as amazing, friendly, and attentive. They are trained to handle the unique temperaments of exotic pets and are adept at helping stressed-out owners. The hospital's quiet, dog-free environment is a significant feature that reduces stress for prey animals.
- **Comprehensive Boarding:** The hospital offers a safe and professional environment for **exotic pet boarding**, which can be a difficult service to find elsewhere. The boarding services include daily weight checks and monitoring for any health concerns.
- **Advanced Technology:** The hospital features state-of-the-art equipment, including **high definition digital radiography** and an in-house laboratory, which allows for quick and accurate diagnostics.
It is important to consider all feedback. One negative review raised a concern about communication and perceived unnecessary procedures, highlighting the need for pet owners to have a clear understanding of the diagnostic process and associated costs. While one customer's experience may not be representative of the entire practice, it underscores the importance of a transparent and detailed discussion with the veterinarian before any services are performed.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr Lewis and all the staff at AZEAH are amazing. Dr Lewis has taken care of two of my rabbits. She is kind, care and very knowledgeable. I will not take my rabbits anywhere else.
August 01 · Katy Kandaris-WeinerI brought my snake in for being egg bound. I knew there was an egg still in her it was early visible. They said they needed to do an xray to see exactly what's going on and to see next best course of action based on x-rays. The Dr came back in and told me the xray showed there is in fact an egg in there and charged me 400$ for something I already knew. Then tells me I need a $2k surgery. Not happy with them lying to me about what the xray was going to be for. If they were upfront about it just confirming the egg in there I would have declined. The egg was clearly visible from just looking at her.
March 10 · Chris SanchezHighly recommended - these doctors always take great care of my snakes. The waiting room is nice and they always have lizards on display. The exam room isn't cramped. The staff is really dedicated and friendly. I've seen everything from rabbits to birds to iguanas, you name it. The competent and I wouldn't trust going anywhere else.
December 07 · Nicolle MulhareAfter an unexpected and unfortunate incident, we took in our conure bird who we suspected had already passed. The staff immediately took us in and indeed confirmed his passing. They were incredibly empathetic to our situation, boxed him up and provided us with a foot print memory. I am extremely grateful for the assistance the staff provided us with during a very sad situation. Thank you
July 22 · RoThe vets are really good and would recommend them except for the customer service. The customer service is horrible and would give a zero stars if I could.
