Homestead Animal Clinic is a full-service animal hospital providing a wide array of veterinary medical services. They are dedicated to addressing the health needs of pets from head to tail, focusing on both preventative and critical care.
Services Offered:
Expert Diagnosis and Treatment: The clinic excels in diagnosing a wide range of pet health concerns, from common illnesses like UTIs to more complex issues like bladder stones. They use their expertise to create effective treatment plans, which can include surgical procedures if necessary.
Surgical Procedures: The clinic performs surgical procedures to address various health issues. Their commitment to a smooth process, as noted in a review about a mini schnauzer's surgery, provides reassurance to pet owners during a stressful time.
Specialized Care: A key service highlight is their specialized care for specific breeds, particularly greyhounds. As one long-term patient notes, Dr. Hunt is considered "the best in AZ with greyhounds," who require specialized knowledge for diagnosis and treatment. This focus on a niche area of veterinary medicine showcases a deep level of expertise.
Preventative Health: While the reviews highlight their ability to handle complex issues, the clinic also offers a full range of preventative services to keep pets healthy and happy. This includes wellness exams and a proactive approach to pet health.
What truly sets Homestead Animal Clinic apart are the intangible qualities and professional values that their team, particularly Dr. Hunt, brings to every appointment. These features are what build unwavering trust and long-lasting relationships with clients.
Features and Highlights:
Expertise and Accuracy: Dr. Hunt is consistently described as a "true expert" with immense knowledge and experience. A customer review praised his ability to accurately diagnose a pet's issues based on his initial "guestimates," which were later confirmed by tests. This level of clinical accuracy is a major highlight and a source of complete trust for pet owners.
Compassionate and Genuine Care: Many clients mention feeling "completely supported and reassured" and note that the clinic's care is "genuine" and "always puts the animal's well-being first." This compassionate approach is a significant factor in their long-standing reputation.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We’ve been patients of Dr Hunt and his awesome team for the past 15 years (and at least 7 of our fur-babies). He’s the best in AZ with greyhounds, who need specialized care for diagnosis & treatment. I’ve always driven 45-60min each way to get there, but the care we receive is stellar!
December 01 · Laura Hatfield, APRNWe are incredibly grateful to have found Dr. Hunt, thanks to a recommendation from AZ Pet Spay and Neuter in Mesa. After bringing in our mini schnauzer for some health concerns, Dr. Hunt quickly diagnosed her with a UTI and bladder stones, and later performed her surgery. Everything went smoothly, and we felt completely supported and reassured the entire time. What really stood out about Dr. Hunt— he’s a true expert. His knowledge and experience were immediately evident, and what was especially impressive is that his initial thoughts and “guestimates” were confirmed when the tests came back. That level of accuracy and trust in his judgment made all the difference in the world. After five years with a privately owned clinic that shared similar values, we were disappointed when it was acquired by a larger corporate group. With the changes came higher fees and a loss of the personal care we had come to rely on. Finding Dr. Hunt was like returning to what really matters: genuine, compassionate care that always puts the animal’s well-being first. We’re so thankful to have found Dr. Hunt, and we trust him wholeheartedly. We hope he continues to care for pets for many years to come. Our schnauzer is doing wonderfully, and we feel so fortunate to have finally found a vet we can trust completely.
May 14 · ShanellNew to the area and are so relieved to have found a vet we trust! Our Great Dane started having issues a month after we got here. He’s been to Urgent Care, internal medicine, and another primary vet. All the tests were done and $5K later, not any solid answers :/We found Dr Weir and he was able to take the medical history coupled with his own examination to give us the best explanation of what likely is going on that we’ve received yet. Plus, he laid out a reasonable plan of action that didn’t involve throwing spaghetti at the wall by ordering every possible test.We appreciate his thorough exam without pushing us to spend more money on tests that likely wouldn’t give us answers. He’s honestly the best vet we’ve seen for the 12 years we’ve had dogs.Thank you, Dr Weir!
October 24 · Addie HolzmannBoth Dr Hunt and Weir are fantastic. You can tell they are vets because they actually care about the animals and not about milking people out of tons of money. They are honest and super caring. Will tell you how it is so you can make the best decision for your fur baby.
March 16 · Amy “lilmissmesa” BillmanI have been bringing my dogs to homestead animal clinic for several years- and my husband’s family has been taking their own dogs for over 10+ years to this clinic. They are truly like family- much more professional than your family though… thank you for carefully spaying my girl this year.
