Comprehensive Cardiac Exams: Our services begin with a full cardiac examination, including a review of your pet's medical history, a physical exam, blood pressure measurement, and a focused auscultation of the heart to detect murmurs or arrhythmias.
Advanced Diagnostics: We offer a range of specialized diagnostic services, including echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds), electrocardiograms (EKG), and radiography (X-rays). These tests provide us with crucial information on the location, type, and severity of your pet's heart disease.
Personalized Treatment Plans: Following a thorough diagnosis, our board-certified cardiologists will develop a detailed, customized treatment plan tailored to your pet's specific condition. We discuss all available options, including medications, diet, and activity levels, and answer all your questions.
Ongoing Collaboration: We believe in a collaborative approach. We work closely with your primary care veterinarian, sending a full report and recommendations to them the same day as your appointment, to ensure continuous and coordinated care for your pet.
Wellness and Preventive Care for Primary Vets: Although our primary focus is cardiology, we also provide a range of services that can be done at a general practice, and are often referred to us. This includes microchipping, pet vaccines, pet dental care, and nutrition counseling. These services ensure that even with a cardiac condition, your pet's overall health is maintained.
Senior and Puppy Care: We are equipped to provide care for pets of all ages, from managing congenital heart conditions in puppies and kittens to addressing age-related heart disease in senior pets. Our senior pet care services are a key part of our focus.
Board-Certified Cardiologists: Our team is led by board-certified veterinary cardiologists, who have completed extensive, multi-year specialized training in cardiology. This advanced expertise ensures your pet receives the highest level of cardiac care available.
Owner Presence During Exams: We encourage and allow owners to be in the room with their pets during examinations and echocardiograms. This helps comfort your pet and gives you the opportunity to see the process and ask questions directly to the cardiologist as they are performing the diagnostic work.
Collaborative Approach: We are a referral practice, meaning we work in direct partnership with your primary care veterinarian. This ensures that the care your pet receives is a seamless and well-coordinated effort between specialists and your family vet.
Unrushed, Detailed Consultations: Our appointments are scheduled to allow ample time for the doctor to not only perform a thorough examination but also to explain everything in detail, and to address all of your questions and concerns without rushing.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1What a wonderful experience. Considering the difficult circumstances of our visit I feel very fortunate to have made my elderly dogs appoint at CVCA Cardiac Care in Capistrano. The doctor and the staff are amazing . I felt very comfortable with the kind and caring manner of all the staff. The doctor was amazing, he took the time to explain everything in detail and was happy to answer all my questions and concerns without rushing . I especially appreciated the urgency with which they sent the results to the surgeon working with my dog and taking the time at the end of the same day to call and share thoughts and recommendations for anesthesia and possible ways to operate with minimal problems. I highly recommend this wonderful business to others. Diana Daley
June 29 · Diana DaleyDr Boorstin is the best! We traveled from central California to see him since he had the best reviews. We previously saw a different cardiologist and did not like the experience. Dr Boorstin and his staff were so friendly and were well versed his my little old man’s medical history. They allowed us in the room for the ultrasound/echo and EKG. Dr made sure we left will all questions answered and we did not feel rushed. They really seemed to care about my boy and they seemed to enjoy their job. Definitely will recommend to anyone who is looking for a cardiologist that’s treats your pet as family.
August 06 · Ingrid C.Date: July 26, 2025Dr. Boorstin provided exceptional care and demonstrated outstanding dedication to Mimi, my 14 year Chihuahua with advance heart murmur and liver tumor. Dr. Boorstin and his team are very professional and accommodating throughout the visit. Perfect 10/10 rating reflects superior quality of care and expertise in veterinary medicine.
July 26 · Chelly RoblesWe brought our 8-yr old Pomeranian, King, to CVCA because of an enlarged heart seen on an X-ray a few weeks ago. I was very anxious and could only think about the worst possible outcome, considering how he was breathing.Dr. Boorstin and Kristin were very warm and welcoming and took the time to review the information presented to them and talk about what they would be looking for on an echocardiogram. They connected well with King and were able to do the full study. They were able to quickly identify the problems and prescriptions, not just for his heart but to help him breathe better because of a collapsed trachea. They also took the time to work with the pharmacy, identify alternate pharmacies, and we write prescriptions when I encounter issues getting medications locally and from a compounding pharmacy. No fault to CVCA, who even provided me some temporary donated medications while we were waiting. The price, which includes both the consultation and what is about a 20 minute or so study, is fair (don't fret right away!) considering there are only eight or so veterinary cardiologists in the SoCal area.
June 18 · Aalap ShahI’m so glad we took our dog here. They are the best- professional, kind, and explained everything to me. The exam was easy for our pups too. This is the best place to go for cardiology care for your dog in OC.
