The Bird Loft Introduce
For bird enthusiasts across Ohio, finding a dedicated, knowledgeable, and reliable source for avian pets and supplies is a priority. In Amherst, a local gem has established itself as the go-to destination for all things bird-related: The Bird Loft. This specialized pet store is well-regarded as Lorain County's largest and most well-respected retailer for pet birds, offering a comprehensive selection of supplies, a commitment to hand-raised babies, and a variety of key services. Whether you're a new bird owner or a seasoned enthusiast, The Bird Loft provides a unique and focused experience that you won't find at a general pet store.
The core of The Bird Loft's appeal is its focus on the health and happiness of the birds it sells. The store prides itself on its selection of "hand-raised babies," which are lovingly cared for to be tame and friendly. This commitment to early socialization is a significant factor for those looking for a feathered companion who will thrive in a home environment. The store also offers a group of older birds for adoption, providing a wonderful opportunity for pet owners to give a loving home to a bird in need. As one customer shared, adopting an older blue Quaker parrot from The Bird Loft was a rewarding experience, and with patience, the once-timid bird "has blossomed into a wonderful companion." This focus on giving older birds a second chance is a testament to the store's deep commitment to avian welfare.
While the store's primary focus is on selling birds, it also serves as a comprehensive resource for everything a bird owner might need. The staff are known for their knowledge and helpfulness, taking the guesswork out of finding the right food for your bird from a selection of dozens of options. They offer a full range of entertaining and stimulating toys, including perches, swings, and more, to suit any bird's needs. The Bird Loft also carries a variety of equipment, cages, and accessories, ensuring you can find everything required to create a perfect habitat for your avian friend.
The Bird Loft offers several key services to support bird owners in the local community. They provide professional grooming services, which include wing clipping and nail trimming. These services are available by appointment on select days. Additionally, they offer a boarding service for pet birds at reasonable daily rates for all sizes and breeds. This is a perfect solution for bird owners who need a trustworthy place for their feathered friends to stay while they are out of town.
It is important to note that while many experiences are positive, some customers have had mixed outcomes with the services. One customer shared a distressing experience with a grooming appointment, noting that their bird was injured and had to be taken to a vet. While this is an isolated review, it highlights the importance of open communication and ensuring you are comfortable with the procedures. However, the same customer praised The Bird Loft "as a store," indicating that its reputation for quality products and a loving environment remains strong.
The Bird Loft is conveniently located at 141 N Leavitt Rd in Amherst, OH, 44001. Its location makes it a central hub for bird lovers in Lorain County and the surrounding areas. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Love the place as a store, but when it comes to grooming beware. I have taken my bird here a few times with no issues. I take him in this time and was called back to see him bleeding from his nose, I was given a vets card and told me to take him there. As I was upset and crying took him to see the vet, I was told he was probably man handled, or dropped. He had to stay at the vets over night to be watched. $677.00 later thank gosh he was ok. I will never take him here again, I will find somewhere else to take him.
August 24 · Shelley BiasI adopted my blue Quaker parrot from them back in January, and he is thriving! I picked him from a group of older birds they had available for some time. He was initially rather timid and easily startled. However, with patients and love, he has blossomed into a wonderful companion. I encourage you to consider giving older birds a chance! I adore my little Suki ♥️
April 16 · BrittanyThis is my go to place for supplies and boarding. I also purchased one of my conures here. They have been great. I board 3 conures with them a few times a year. They have a large selection of natural peaches in their back room. Also a large selection of pellets, and custom packaged bags of all different types of snacks foods. I highly recommend this shop.
August 10 · Chris CarrI have been coming here for years & actually bought my Quaker from here.I’m a tad disappointed as I brought them both in for a nail trim & was very adamant about my parakeet being a frantic bird & I was worried she’d get hurt during the process.I was assured she wouldn’t. As days passed we had to take her in to see Dr. Lindstrom due to the odd fixation of her feet & complete change of personality. He concluded that her nails were cut way too short to the blood line because her nails were fully black on the tips - and that she was in severe pain. We had to her get a pain relieving medication & with the total vet visit being $252.48.Very disappointing for me considering I was adamant about my worry with my parakeet and how anxious she is when getting any type of nail trim due to past experiences going wrong.I love the store but, sadly after this it will be awhile until we return.
January 25 · Lexi CiolekWe just got our first cockatail. They do a nice job of making sure everything is healthy with the birds before sending them home with you
