City Pets Introduce
For pet owners in New York City, the challenges of a traditional veterinary visit are well-known. Navigating crowded streets, dealing with traffic, and exposing a possibly anxious or sick pet to a waiting room full of other animals can be stressful for both the animal and the owner. City Pets, a premier veterinary house call service, offers a transformative solution to this dilemma. Operating as a mobile practice, City Pets brings the full scope of veterinary care directly to your home, ensuring your beloved dog or cat receives high-quality medical attention in the most comfortable and stress-free environment possible. This article is a comprehensive guide for New Yorkers seeking a more convenient, personalized, and compassionate approach to their pet’s healthcare.
Since its founding, City Pets has carved out a unique and essential niche in the New York City veterinary landscape. The business, which proudly identifies as women-owned, operates on a simple but powerful philosophy: pets are more comfortable and more cooperative in their familiar surroundings. This approach not only reduces stress for the animal but also allows the veterinarian to observe the pet in its natural environment, often providing valuable insights into its behavior and overall health that might be missed in a clinical setting.
The practice is led by Dr. Amy Attas, who founded City Pets in 1992 with a vision of bringing the traditional house call into the modern era of Manhattan pet care. Over the decades, she and her team have become a trusted partner for thousands of New York families. The core mission is to provide an intimate, personalized, and convenient service that ensures the highest standard of care without the trauma of travel and a strange environment. This dedication to concierge-level service has earned them a reputation as one of the most thoughtful and kind veterinary practices in the city.
As a mobile veterinary service, City Pets' physical address is a central base of operations rather than a public-facing clinic. Their address is 50 W 57th St, New York, NY 10019, USA. Located in a central Manhattan business district, this address signifies their professional and structured approach to operations. Their practice operates on an appointment-required basis, which is essential for a business that customizes its schedule to visit clients in their homes.
For New Yorkers, the very concept of a house call vet eliminates the traditional concerns of location and accessibility. Instead of the owner traveling to the vet, the vet travels to the owner, making the service accessible to nearly every part of Manhattan. This is particularly beneficial for those with multiple pets, senior pets, anxious animals, or simply for people with busy schedules who find it difficult to make a trip to a brick-and-mortar clinic. The ease of access provided by their mobile service is one of the most compelling reasons to choose City Pets.
City Pets offers an incredibly extensive range of services, rivaling many traditional animal hospitals. The key difference is that all of these services are performed in the comfort of your home, with some services requiring co-management with a specialist or a traditional hospital. Their offerings cover the full lifecycle of a pet, from puppies and kittens to geriatric care and end-of-life services.
- In-Home Wellness Exams: This includes a complete physical examination, blood work, fecal analysis, and urine analysis.
- Routine and Rabies Vaccinations: All necessary shots are administered at home, reducing stress for the pet.

Several key features make City Pets a standout choice for discerning New York pet owners.
- House Call Model: This unique approach is the practice's greatest asset, providing convenience and a stress-free experience for pets and owners alike.
- Women-Owned Business: The company is a certified women-owned business, representing a commitment to diversity and a different approach to business leadership in the veterinary field.
- Comprehensive Care: Despite being a mobile practice, City Pets provides a surprisingly wide array of services, covering everything from routine check-ups to complex disease management.
- Appointment-Based System: This ensures that each client receives dedicated time and attention, and there is no rushed feeling during the visit.
- Compassionate End-of-Life Care: The service of in-home euthanasia is a profound highlight, offering a humane and peaceful way for pets to pass surrounded by their loved ones.
For New York residents ready to explore a different kind of veterinary care, City Pets is just a call away.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Today my rescue senior cat was completely traumatized as her skeletal frame- she’s maybe 15 pounds- was held down on my coffee table. She was frantically trying to escape and yowling in fright. I have NEVER heard her scream like this .Terror.She was not allowed to escape-she was held down I was told to get a towel to put over her. ( which should have been thought of in the first place) finally she was just too wild in fear , and fought & she escaped. Unfortunately her nails had been just cut!!They knew she was already scared bc they noted her heart was beating very fast and this was before the exam.It was therefore a partial exam, My cat is still petrified and under the bed.I have worked with her for 6 years trying to get her to trust human beings. As a rescue she had gone through 3 other families!!!I do not recommend this company and what made it worse was the pretense they were respecting my cat ( “when she says no it’s no”) when the reality was almost ten minutes of terror for my senior rescue. That was not respect,
August 01 · Heather True LaValleWow! I thought my dogs have always gotten excellent care but City Pets immediately put everyone else to shame. The best quality, most thoughtful, and exceptionally kind care my old guy has ever received. Dr Margo and her team just amazed me.
July 08 · Chele HippI’ve had many negative experiences with vets in the past, from unnecessary procedures going wrong to rude staff, so I was very hesitant, tired, and guarded to try a new veterinarian. However, a good friend of mine said she heard good things about this vet and recommended I give them a shot. I have now been with them for years. There is NO ONE I trust more than Jeanine to give my kitty her monthly ingestions. Unlike with other nurses with whom my cat cries during every shot, Jeanine must have magical hands because most of the time my cat doesn’t react at all to an injection. Jeanine is patient, incredibly sweet, gentle and caring. Her monthly visits are not a source of stress, but are actually a pleasure. (If someone ever told me I would ever feel this way, I would say they are out of their mind). When my cat needs a doctor, it’s Dr. Attas. She is amazing. She takes the time to answer all my questions and go over treatment plans in detail. I feel heard, and I feel that my cat is well taken care of.Because Dr. Attas and Jeanine come to our house, it’s so much less stressful for all parties involved. I am so happy we found this vet and I would recommend them to all pet owners!
September 26 · Olga KravchenkoI could not recommend City Pets more highly. (This is the first review I have ever written).Dr. Dalton and her colleague were on time, professional, and most importantly kind and caring in an extraordinary way. Cubby, a semi-feral rescue orange tabby, hadn’t been to a vet in 5 years due to his terror of pet carriers. They put him at ease, administered vaccinations, and trimmed his nails before gently getting Cubby and my other two rescues into carriers for a long move. We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you!
September 16 · Henry DalbyDr. Amy Attas saved Yoda's life! Yoda is our 8-year old French Bulldog and he had a terrible experience at another vet in the West Village - we almost lost him at a dental appointment gone wrong!! Dr. Attas was referred to us by a friend. Shortly after Dr. Attas started her house calls at our apartment, Yoda wasn't eating regularly and she noticed Yoda's blood work was abnormal. We took Yoda straight away to Blue Pearl after Dr. Attas called to warn us that this was an urgent matter. Dr. Attas has relationships with the doctors at Blue Pearl and she was able to follow up with them directly. Yoda wouldn't be here if Dr. Attas hadn't caught this abnormal blood work early on. Yoda had an emergency surgery to remove a portion of his liver and his gallbladder which would have ruptured in the imminent future. This is often caught after the fact with dogs, when it's too late!! She's been great with Yoda and always follows up! Not to mention she comes to us so we don't have to Uber Yoda around! Couldn't recommend City Pets more!!
