Hewlett Animal Hospital & Pet Resort Introduce
For New Yorkers, our pets are cherished members of the family, and their health and happiness are of the utmost importance. When it comes to finding a facility that can handle everything from routine medical care to luxurious boarding and professional grooming, Hewlett Animal Hospital & Pet Resort stands out as a unique and comprehensive solution. Located in Hewlett, NY, this establishment offers an all-in-one approach to pet care that caters to a wide range of needs. From its role as a full-service animal hospital to its offerings as a dedicated pet resort, it aims to be a singular, trusted resource for pet owners throughout Long Island. While customer feedback presents a mixed picture, the breadth of services available here is undeniably impressive, and it's worth exploring what makes this a notable option for the New York pet owner.
Hewlett Animal Hospital & Pet Resort is more than just a veterinary clinic; it's a multi-faceted facility designed to meet a variety of pet care needs under one roof. This integrated model is a significant convenience for the busy New Yorker. Instead of coordinating appointments at separate locations for veterinary checkups, grooming, and boarding, pet owners can find all these services consolidated in one place. This seamless experience is particularly appealing for those with demanding schedules who value efficiency. The facility is equipped to handle emergency veterinary situations, providing a critical safety net for pet owners during unforeseen crises. Simultaneously, it offers a relaxing and enjoyable environment for pets, with features like luxury boarding and a variety of grooming services. This unique combination of medical and recreational services is a key feature that sets them apart from more traditional veterinary practices.
The pet resort aspect of the business is a major highlight, as evidenced by a positive customer review. A client praised the "butler level service" provided for their cat, Baxter, who was well-cared for during a two-week stay. The staff, including Joseph and Fern, were noted for their attentive care and for ensuring the cat was in a good mood upon pickup, a testament to the facility's commitment to the emotional well-being of its boarders. This service is a perfect solution for New Yorkers who travel and need a reliable, caring place for their pets. The resort offers various amenities such as deluxe boarding, cageless dog boarding, and grooming services like ear cleaning and toenail trims, ensuring pets are not only safe but also comfortable and pampered during their stay.
However, it is important to address the significant concerns raised in other customer reviews. Multiple testimonials describe severe issues with customer service, particularly concerning payment and the release of pets. One review notes that the owner was "extremely difficult" and refused to release a dog when the credit card machine was down. Another detailed a three-hour ordeal where the staff insisted on a money order, refusing to accept a credit card number to charge later. These experiences point to a potential inconsistency in service and a rigidity in policy that may cause stress for pet owners. It is critical for potential customers to be aware of these issues and to inquire about payment methods and policies upfront, as the reviews suggest a cash deposit may be required for new clients and that the credit card machine can be unreliable. Transparency and preparedness are key when considering this business.
Located at 1225 Broadway, Hewlett, NY, the facility is accessible to residents throughout Long Island. The hospital provides a wheelchair accessible parking lot and restroom, which contributes to the overall convenience and inclusivity of the establishment. The central location in Hewlett makes it a practical option for pet owners in the surrounding communities. However, due to the need for appointments and the reported issues with customer service, it is highly recommended to call ahead and confirm all policies, particularly regarding payment, to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was very happy at the butler level service Fern and Joseph at Hewlett provided for my cat Baxter. I adopted him from the Animal Care Center on 110 St last January so I was worried he would feel abandoned again when I went on safari to Botswana /South Africa for 2 weeks. But Hewlett Pet Resort took really good care of him and provided lots of TLCare, groomed him so he was in really good mood when I came to pick him up. Once home he immediately jumped up on window sill and looked out window like usual. My only quibble is that I had sent the ACC vaccinations he received so I don't understand why he was vaccinated for rabies and distemper again.
June 20 · Alexandra GeorgeThe owner of this establishment is extremely difficult and there is zero customer service. I would not trust my dog to them again given their complete failure to provide any customer service and their refusal to release my dog to me when their credit card machine was down and they could not accept payment.I had the worst experience at this establishment. We left our pet Chloe there for 10 days and made a large cash deposit (over $200 as they do not take credit cards for new customers). Prior to picking her up we asked about payment as we had assumed cash was acceptable - we were told it was not but that they would take credit cards. We arrived to pick up the dog with a credit card from our home one hour away only to discover that their credit card machine was down and they refused to release the dog to us. The owner was away and we ended up getting stuck there over 3 hours - we Did not have a debit card on us and they insisted the post office would sell us a money order with a credit card which was incorrect. They refused to take a card number and charge us when their machine was working. The worst experience. Unprofessional. Stay away.
October 31 · Toby MoskovitzTook our leopard gecko in today for her first visit. It was a very positive experience from the moment we called for an appointment.Dr. Zipkin took time to thoroughly explain our pet's diagnosis and treatment with us. You know that he truly loves his calling.
December 23 · Ray G.This place is a nightmare. Everything they tell you is a lie. They tell you one price and then they overcharge you. My dog stayed here for 5 days and when I picked her up no one was there. No one is ever there over night. Staff leaves around 5pm and they cage the animals until the next morning. My dog was atleast 7lbs down when I retrieved her. She look traumatized!!! If you love your furry ones stay away from this place please!!! They should be reported on more than a review! This place needs to be shut down!!!
July 09 · L EdwardsI recently spent a week away with my family. We hated leaving our beloved English Bulldogs behind. We were put at ease from the moment we met the capable staff here. The rooms were great and everyone is courteous and friendly. We checked in via email and received prompt replies. I would recommend the “ resort” to anyone that loves their pet. Our bulldogs were returned freshly washed, nails clipped, happy and healthy. We will definitely be using this service again for our next trip. Worth every penny!
