Montpelier Veterinary Hospital Introduce
For Vermonters, our relationship with animals is deeply personal, whether they are cherished pets in our homes or vital members of our farms. Finding a veterinary hospital that can cater to the unique needs of both is a true asset to the community. The Montpelier Veterinary Hospital is a shining example of such a place. This full-service animal hospital is a rare find, providing comprehensive and compassionate care for small animals like dogs and cats, as well as offering extensive services for large animals, including horses, cattle, goats, and sheep. This dual expertise means that a single, trusted practice can serve a diverse range of clients, from the urban pet owner to the rural farmer. They are committed to providing medical care with heart, valuing each family's individual needs, expectations, and budgets. Their mission is to treat every animal as if it were their own, a philosophy that is evident in their daily operations and their approach to patient care.
The stellar reputation of Montpelier Veterinary Hospital is built on the positive experiences of its clients. One customer's review highlights the clinic's exceptional empathy and professionalism, especially during the difficult process of saying goodbye to a beloved 16-year-old cat. The reviewer praised the staff for being "amazing," "kind, empathetic, and understanding," and for going the extra mile by sending a sympathy card with the cat's final paw print. This level of compassion is what transforms a veterinary visit from a simple medical appointment into a deeply supportive human experience. Another client, who has a dog that is terrified of vets, noted that the staff listened to their concerns, respected their dog's fear, and accommodated them by performing the check-up right there in the room with the owner. This willingness to listen to the owners and adapt to a pet's individual needs is a major highlight and speaks volumes about the hospital's patient-centered approach. They don't push for unnecessary procedures and trust the owner's knowledge of their own animal, which builds a strong and respectful partnership.
The hospital's commitment to care extends far beyond just kindness and empathy. They offer a wide range of services that demonstrate a modern and comprehensive approach to veterinary medicine. For small animals, they provide everything from routine wellness exams and vaccinations to advanced surgical procedures and senior pet care. Their ability to perform in-house diagnostics, including bloodwork and urine testing, means they can often get results while you wait, minimizing stress and wait times during an emergency. For their large animal clients, they offer a wide array of services including farm calls, herd health management, reproductive services, and even specialized surgery for small ruminants. This comprehensive service model is a huge benefit for the Vermont community, as it provides a one-stop-shop for a wide variety of animal health needs. Whether you have a sick dog, a pregnant cow, or a lame horse, you can rely on the expert care provided by the Montpelier Veterinary Hospital team. They are a valuable resource for both city and country life in Vermont.
Furthermore, the hospital’s proactive approach to pet health is a key part of their philosophy. They emphasize preventative measures like parasite prevention, vaccination programs, and disease screening to help pets and farm animals live long, healthy lives. Their services, such as nutritional counseling and dental care, are designed to address common health problems before they become serious. This preventative focus is beneficial for both the animal's well-being and the owner's budget, as it can help avoid more costly treatments down the road. The hospital also offers hospice care and at-home euthanasia services, showing their commitment to supporting families through the full life cycle of their beloved animals, from their first check-up to their final goodbye. This holistic approach to animal care is what makes them such a trusted and respected institution in the Montpelier community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1These guys are the absolute best vets in my area! They listen to the owners, and don't make you come in for unnecessary procedures. I sent them a picture of something with my dog, they advised what I should do for him, and just said that if his energy level dropped he should come in. They are just the absolute best. My little dog is TERRIFIED of the vets, and the recognize that he is more comfortable with me in there with him so they did their check on his eye right there in the room. I told them they would need to muzzle him, and they listened no questions asked. Can't recommend them enough
August 22 · Kaylee ContiThe Montpelier Vet Hospital has been amazing through the tough diagnosis that lead to saying goodbye to my sweet 16 year old cat Julius. The doctors and vet techs that supported our family through this difficult goodbye were amazing. They were kind, empathetic, and understanding. I appreciated all that they did.I received a card today with the greatest sympathies from all the staff and one final paw print from my sweet boy. Thank you all so much for the support and kindness that you all give.I highly recommend bringing your loved pets here as they get the best care possible.
May 27 · Alexis .MaxfieldThey saved our dog's life when we were told by other emergency vets that he would be fine until the next day (he wouldn't have been). The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and having a doctor on call 24/7 for emergencies is something I always loved. If we didn't move 2 hours away, our dog would still be a patient.
March 20 · Shayde Tibbitts5 Stars and More. We had the sad time of taking our dog in to be put to sleep. The Vet was attentive, understanding, patient and compassionate in dealing with very emotionally distraught family. We cannot thank them enough for her treatment of us -- and Paco. Thank You!
January 12 · Timothy BoltinCaring, helpful staff. They make it easy for you to enter and leave with your pet and I saw a staff member providing curb service to a pet in someone's car.
