For cat owners in Connecticut, finding a veterinary practice that truly understands the unique needs and behaviors of felines can be a challenge. Cats, with their subtle signs of distress and sometimes challenging dispositions, thrive in an environment tailored specifically to them. New England Cat Care, located in Woodbridge, is a specialized animal hospital that has dedicated itself exclusively to feline health. This is not a general pet clinic; it is a place designed from the ground up to provide a stress-free and comprehensive experience for cats and their owners. This article will serve as a detailed guide to what makes this clinic a standout choice for cat parents, highlighting its specialized services, unique approach, and the features that have earned it a world-class reputation among the local community.
New England Cat Care is a specialty veterinary clinic and animal hospital that focuses solely on cats. This exclusive specialization is a major differentiator, as it means the entire staff and facility are expertly trained in feline-specific medicine and behavior. The clinic is dedicated to providing a full range of services, from routine wellness checks to advanced medical procedures, all within an environment that is calm and designed to reduce the stress that can often accompany a vet visit for a cat. As a women-owned business, the clinic is a testament to the dedication of its founders and staff to providing exceptional, empathetic care. This identity, combined with a welcoming and LGBTQ+ friendly crowd, creates a safe and inclusive space for all members of the community.
What truly defines New England Cat Care is its commitment to understanding and adapting to a cat's individual "rules," as one client review highlights. Instead of forcing a pet into a stressful situation, the staff takes the time to learn about the cat's personality and needs. This approach, as exemplified by Dr. Arcuri and her team, is a cut above typical veterinary interventions and has proven to be a game-changer for owners of "fractious" or anxious cats. It is this depth of knowledge and patient approach that sets the clinic apart, making it a truly world-class facility for feline care.
The location of New England Cat Care is a key benefit for its clients. It is conveniently situated at 186 Amity Rd, Woodbridge, CT 06525, USA. The clinic is committed to ensuring that all clients, feline and human, can access their services without any issues. The facility features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. These accommodations ensure a comfortable and stress-free visit for all pet parents, regardless of their mobility. The strategic location, combined with these accessibility features, makes New England Cat Care a convenient and welcoming option for anyone in the area who needs specialized veterinary care for their feline companion.
To ensure a smooth and efficient visit, the clinic recommends appointments. This helps manage patient flow and ensures that each cat receives the dedicated time and attention it needs without feeling rushed. The presence of amenities like restrooms and a commitment to being LGBTQ+ friendly adds to the overall comfort of the waiting area, creating a more pleasant environment for what can sometimes be a stressful experience. The fact that the clinic is located on a main road further adds to its practicality and ease of access.

This expertise allows them to handle difficult cats with a gentle and understanding approach, which is invaluable for pet owners who have previously had negative experiences elsewhere.

They take the time to understand a pet’s history and explain everything thoroughly, providing a personalized and collaborative approach to care. The staff's efficiency, as highlighted by a "shoutout" to Stevie for record-keeping, is also a major plus.
Compassionate and Caring Vets: Dr. Richter and Dr. Arcuri are singled out as being "the best" for their compassionate and knowledgeable care. The fact that a staff member called a client back after hours to help with a distressed pet speaks volumes about their dedication and goes above and beyond a typical service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr Richter is the best vet I’ve ever been to and his staff is world class. My cat was in extreme distress and the woman working the front desk called me back at 8:30PM on a Saturday night to document symptoms and help see him ASAP. The whole staff is incredibly patient, you never feel like you are being rushed out the door, and they are incredibly knowledgeable. Will NEVER go to anyone else.
July 09 · Jack MarcheseI cannot say enough good things about our experience with New England Cat Care! My cat, Fiona, has had a notoriously challenging experience with all of the vets we’ve been to previously. She hates confinement, so the towel burrito that vets normally do to protect themselves just makes her angrier. This was the first appointment EVER where Dr. Arcuri and her entire staff made every effort to understand and play by Fiona’s “rules” (as Dr. Arcuri called them). They are a cut above other vets. They began our appointment with a comprehensive intake conversation and explained everything thoroughly. They truly understand cat behavior and health, and offer a depth of knowledge that beyond typical veterinary interventions, if and when they don’t work. Their administrative staff is also equally meticulous! Shoutout to Stevie for her persistence and efficiency with the process of organizing Fiona’s records, and for sending along the doctor’s notes for our insurance claim in just a few hours. If other vets have labeled your cat “fractious,” this is the place.
August 27 · Kailey GraziottoThese folks are the best. Friendly, professional and they take an extraordinary interest in your pet. I would recommend them to any cat owner in driving distance.
April 08 · D HeroldWords cannot express how truly grateful I am to the entire team at NECC. Dr. Richter and his staff helped us improve the quality of life for our 2 cats and never gave up on us. He was kind, patient and realistic when we were creating the plans and was so knowledgeable here. He goes above and beyond to help and was kind enough to call me after my cat recently passed. I am so thankful for this team and my decision to make them my vet was a great one! Thank you!
October 21 · Nancy BattagliniThis is the BEST vet I've ever been to (and I've been to 4 other vets in the last 5 years). They took so much time with my kitty and did all the tests necessary to find out why my baby has been so sick. They explain everything that they are doing and never make you feel rushed or like you are just another number in their book. They are also respectful of your price range, will only do what is absolutely necessary, and will give you estimates throughout the visit. I could not be more thankful for the staff here.
