The standout feature of North Figueroa Animal Hospital is the extraordinary dedication and compassion of its team, particularly Dr. Ronaldo Joey Vasquez. A powerful testimonial from a client whose cat passed away highlights this commitment. Dr. Vasquez’s efforts to save the cat, including staying with her overnight and performing resuscitation and emergency support, demonstrate a level of care that goes far beyond a typical medical service. The client notes that even in the most painful moment, she had "peace knowing she was in good hands" and that the doctor "truly cared" and was honest and compassionate. This level of empathy is a rare and invaluable highlight. Another key feature is the hospital's reputation for affordability and transparent pricing. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I want to take a moment to thank Dr. Vasquez and the team for the care and compassion they gave to my cat during her spay surgery. Unfortunately, we lost her due to a severe and undetected diaphragmatic hernia, but I am truly grateful for the time and effort Dr. put in to try and save her.He not only performed the surgery but stayed with her through the night, doing everything he could—including resuscitation and emergency support—trying to give her a chance. His dedication and heart did not go unnoticed.Even in the hardest moments, I could feel that he truly cared. Losing her has been incredibly painful, but I have peace knowing she was in good hands and surrounded by people who tried their best.Thank you, Dr, Vasquez for treating her with compassion, and for your honesty and care. It means the world to me.Sincerely,Susana garcia
July 19 · Erick ReyesThis place has their own system of seeing the first 50 animals in line, starting a sign in sheet at 730am. I went one time before and was too late, arriving at 7, so the next time I was there by 630 and was seen after 2 1/2 hours, which wasn't a bad time to wait. I had to return at 430 to pick up my cat. Had a voucher for a spay surgery, which was honored, and I had to get my cat vaccinations in order to get the spay surgery, so I paid $128 in total.
July 25 · TeriI'd been looking for a low-cost clinic after being quoted up to $2k for anesthetic dental cleaning for my chihuahua mix at my typical vet. I am beyond pleased with my experience at this clinic - organization, professionalism, and price were exceptional.I showed up at 5:30am on a Thursday and was 3rd in line. Not too many people showed up today. They opened the gate for us to sign in in the same order we made line around 6:30am, then proceeded to seated waiting area in their parking lot. I was called in for intake around 7:15am. Since my dog is a senior, Doctor did a quick physical and asked if I wanted to do a blood exam (due to her age and anesthesia) (also - if you do want/need blood work, you'd have to come back a different day for the dental cleaning because they have to send the blood to the labs). I declined the blood work, and doctor provided the final price upfront before the service. They even showed me the kennel where my dog would recover. Pick up was at 4:30pm, you also have to sign in for pickup on a sheet. Pickup took around 30 min - you get called in to pay and get instructions about any meds/recovery for your pet, then a few min later a vet tech comes out with your pet and repeats any instructions. The lack of appointment system and having to show up early is not for everyone, but it is definitely worth it if you're able to, at least for high-cost procedures.
May 15 · Viviana BermudezI'm usually not one to write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with this office. My dog requires seizure medication and needs to check in every 30 days. However, last week I called for his monthly refill only to find out the entire office was closed for a week without any notification. I had to wait until the following Tuesday to get his medication, which his life depends on.When I called, the front staff seemed unbothered and unconcerned about my dog's urgent needs, citing they were still catching up on work after their break. Despite explaining the importance of the medication, they showed no empathy or understanding. This experience made me realize I need to find a new vet. While Dr. Vasquez may be a good doctor, the poor service and lack of care from his office staff aren't worth it. If you're looking for affordable clinics in LA, I encourage you to do your research and find a place that truly cares about you and your pet.
July 08 · Joel CastellanosThis vet takes the first 50 clients of the day in the morning as first come first serve. I got in line on the sidewalk at 5:50am and was 6th in line but 20 minutes later the line was already around the block. Around 6:45am they opened the gate and I was able to sign in and take a seat in their waiting area in the parking lot. They called my name for intake around 7:10am. My dog was having dental surgery so I came back for pickup at 4pm. You sign in for pickup too. They’ll call your name over the speaker when it’s your turn and you’ll go inside to check out. Then you wait once more to see your dog with a tech before you go home. Checking out took about an hour all together. There is a small lot in the back for parking but it doesn’t open until they open the gate which is after the line starts. In the evening it was full, so I just parked on the adjacent street for free with no issue finding a spot.
