Wedgewood Introduce
In Arizona, where pet ownership is a significant part of many residents' lives, having a reliable source for pet-specific medication is crucial. Wedgewood Pharmacy, located in Scottsdale, is a specialized veterinary pharmacy that focuses on compounding medications for animals. Unlike a standard human pharmacy, a compounding pharmacy creates customized medications to meet the unique needs of a specific pet, whether it's adjusting the dosage, creating a different form (like a liquid or flavored chew), or removing an inactive ingredient that may cause an allergic reaction. Wedgewood’s business model is built around this niche service, serving veterinarians and pet owners across the country. However, their physical location in Scottsdale provides a local presence for the Arizona community. They operate primarily as a delivery service, which is a key part of their business model, but their local presence can be a valuable resource for pet owners in the area. This specialization allows them to provide medications that are not commercially available, which can be essential for pets with specific health conditions.
Wedgewood Pharmacy is conveniently located at 7631 E Indian School Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, USA. This central Scottsdale address makes it a recognizable and accessible location for local residents, even though their primary service model is delivery. The business is mindful of customer accessibility, offering a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. These features make it easier for people with mobility challenges to visit the location if needed. While the convenience of delivery is a major feature of their service, knowing that there is a physical location with these amenities can provide peace of mind. The business's model, as noted in a review, is not primarily set up for in-person pick-ups, which is an important aspect for local users to understand. The focus is on a national delivery service, which means a physical visit may not always be necessary or possible. The location on Indian School Road places it in a well-known area of Scottsdale, making it easy to find for those who are directed to their physical address for any reason.
As a veterinary compounding pharmacy, Wedgewood Pharmacy's services are highly specialized. They don't fill standard, mass-produced human prescriptions. Instead, they focus on creating customized medications for pets based on a veterinarian's prescription. Their services are designed to address the specific needs of animals that cannot be met with commercially available drugs. The following are the services and service options they provide:
- Compounding Medications: Creating custom-tailored medications for pets, including flavorings, different dosage forms (e.g., liquids, transdermal gels), and specific dosages that are not commercially available.
- Veterinary Pharmacy Services: Providing a wide range of medications for animals, from companion pets to exotic and zoo animals.
- Delivery Service: Their primary service option, which ships medications directly to the pet owner's home.
Wedgewood Pharmacy is defined by its specialization and business model. For local Arizona residents, understanding these features is key to managing expectations and leveraging the service effectively. Here are some of the notable features and highlights of this business:
- Veterinary Specialization: Their sole focus on animal health makes them experts in veterinary compounding. This specialization allows them to offer a wide range of medications and dosage forms that a standard pharmacy cannot.
- Compounding Expertise: They can create customized medications, which is a lifesaver for pets that have allergies to certain inactive ingredients, require a different dosage, or need a medication in a form that's easier to administer (like a palatable liquid).
- Delivery-Centric Model: The business is set up for delivery, which is a convenience for pet owners. It saves them a trip to the pharmacy and ensures the medication arrives at their door. However, as noted in customer reviews, this also means it's crucial to order well in advance to account for shipping times.
- Accessibility: The physical location in Scottsdale provides a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance, which is a key highlight for individuals with mobility challenges.
- Flexible Payments: The acceptance of credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments provides customers with a variety of convenient ways to pay for their orders.
To place an order or to inquire about their services, Wedgewood Pharmacy can be contacted via their toll-free number. It is essential to communicate with them about your pet's prescription, as all orders must be approved and sent to them by a veterinarian. Given their business model, it is recommended to manage expectations regarding shipping times and communication. Their physical address is as follows:
- Address: 7631 E Indian School Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, USA
- Phone: (800) 331-8272
- Mobile Phone: +1 800-331-8272
When it comes to choosing a veterinary pharmacy in Arizona, Wedgewood Pharmacy presents a highly specialized option. What makes them a worthwhile consideration is their core service as a compounding pharmacy. For pets with complex medication needs that cannot be met by off-the-shelf drugs, a compounding pharmacy is often the only choice. Wedgewood's ability to create custom, flavored, and specially formulated medications is a crucial service for pet owners. However, it is vital to manage expectations based on customer feedback. Reviews highlight significant concerns about their customer service, delivery times, and a strict policy against in-person pick-ups. Customers have reported long shipping delays, even within the same state, and issues with the heat affecting medications. The lack of compassion in some customer service interactions and a feeling of being taken advantage of due to their specialized status are serious points to consider. Therefore, while their service of providing custom-compounded medications is invaluable and often the only option, it is crucial for pet owners to plan accordingly. This means ordering far in advance, especially for essential medications, and being aware that in-person pick-up may not be an option. For Arizona pet owners, choosing Wedgewood is a decision made out of medical necessity. While their specialty is a great benefit, the potential for slow delivery and customer service issues means it is vital to communicate with your vet about their preferred pharmacy partners and to plan with a buffer of more than a week for any new order or refill.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I feel this place takes advantage of the fact they are a compound pharmacy. I didn't have a choice but to get my dogs medicine from here for $180!even though I drive by them daily they would not allow me to pick up her medicine and it took a week to ship it.As I told them I work for a pet store nearby and they DO allow us to pick up medicine for pets at our store.I can understand not paying for or dropping off a to prescription at the location but I don't understand allowing some to pick up and others to not. They made my poor dog go an extra week that was completely unnecessary without her medication.I also talked to them about it being so extremely hot right now and asked if it was going to be safe. when I got the bottle, the rubber bulb on the top of the syringe Was bulging out to one side about 3 times the size? It normally should be do to the heat
August 20 · Laura ShawVery disappointed first time using this pharmacy as I had no other choice and I ordered it on the 19th and I still haven’t received it after calling customer care, The attitude was basically oh well it’s in route and there’s nothing we can do about it even though I live in the same state as his pharmacy. Absolutely no career compassion for my animal that needs this medication. I will be speaking to my vet about potentially using another pharmacy. So if your vet only uses this pharmacy, make sure you order your medication over a week in advance. It will take that time for you to receive your medication
August 26 · Jennifer JonesI was very skeptical and worried to use Wedgewood, when my vet sent a prescription for my cat’s FIP, due to the amount of 1 star reviews and horror stories of waiting days to weeks for medications. I paid extra for expedited shipping and had my little guys meds delivered 3 hours earlier than the estimated delivery time the very next day. The pharmacy techs were very sweet and helped reassure me they would do everything they can to get Mickey’s meds to me as quickly as possible. I am over the moon pleased with service and will be using Wedgewood with confidence if need be in the future. Thank you Wedgewood!
March 20 · Courtney DeWittNEVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY THAT DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET I ordered Pimobendan for my dog who has CHF. Critical medication for her health. I live in Glendale Arizona. The medication can not go above room temperature as it’s been compounded and is liquid. They sent it regular mail, and it sat in my mailbox for 9 hours, yesterday it reached a temperature of 111. It wasn’t a mistake, that’s what they do every time to save money on mail orders regardless of the medication requirements. If you want they will resend it if your tuned in enough to catch their mistake. A complete disregard for the safety of the medication and thus my fur babe. They do not care about your pet. ANY PHARMACY THAT TREATS MEDICATION LIKE THIS HAS NO REGARD FOR YOUR PET.
June 19 · NikoWedgewood Pharmacy used to be awesome. I live a few blocks away, so stopping in for scrips and refills was a breeze. But the company changed overnight, they got real rude, and shut down the walk-in lobby without notice and then rudely told us later. So, no more Wedgewood Pharmacy for this Arizona household.Oh, and their compounded drugs have very short shelf life, so think very hard about how badly you want to do biz with these cats.A couple years ago, my vet ran out the ear med that my cat needed. Wedgewood was able to compound the stuff for me, and I thought I had won the lottery. However, when I went to Wedgewood to pick it up, I was more than a little surprised at the price. Sure, I was expecting a little upcharge for the compounding, but when I got rung up and the total was nearly six times what I paid for the same stuff at the vet, I giggled, rolled my eyes, and walked out.I then directed my vet to find a different ear medication, and she did. All ended well. I wonder what Wedgewood did with that compounded crap I refused to pay for.
