Stephanie was very sweet. She answered all my questions. She gave good advice about things I had bought for Cottnee my little hedgehog I got from her. I will definitely go back anytime and will recommend her to anyone that is wanting to be an owner of a hedgehog. Thank you Stephanie. Cottnee is still shy and balled in the corner. He was not in trouble. But he is cute as heck.

***UPDATE after reading Stephanie’s reply***I feel the need to reply to the response, but Google Reviews doesn’t allow that feature.So I will write it here.Stephanie, in response to your comment- you did NOT once tell me you needed any money to “hold” a hedgehog. I was never informed of your procedures or the way you do things, and that’s what I’m upset about. I was in contact with you for over a week and not once did you mention the need for a deposit/hold/fee- nothing. You literally told me nothing. The way you spoke to me alluded to my in person visit being all you needed. For the record, I was more than ready to pay you- I’m a person who has the means. I would’ve paid you a deposit and even more if I knew that was something you required. We were that ready to purchase, it should’ve been an easy transaction. But again, you never even mentioned it as part of your process! That wasn’t fair, and definitely isnt how you should run a business. It really is unfortunate, and it was a horrible experience for us. Imagine being all ready to go, with photos of little baby Kendrick- supplies and food all purchased and set up- just waiting to get to bring our new little guy home. Then to be told the day we get to meet him that “oh, nevermind i sold him.” I feel obligated to make sure everyone knows you were extremely inappropriate and frankly you broke my son’s heart. If I could, I’d post our entire text message interactions, so everyone could see how it all went down. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else, for that reason I must say; Buyer beware, you’ve been warned.***Original Review***If I could give this company 0 stars I would have. This was the worst pet buying experience I’ve ever had. I contacted Stephanie to see if she had any hedgehogs available for sale. She texted back stating she had 2 males who would be ready on March 25th. She strung me along for an entire week - sending me photos and discussing payment. Then told me she was out of town until a particular day, and asked me to wait and contact her then to make an appointment to meet and buy the little guy. When that day came, I contacted her - like she requested. She replied “they’re both sold, maybe I’ll have more this summer”. She completely sold them out from under me, expecting me to know her policies and procedures without letting me know. My son who was purchasing this as a new pet was completely devastated as we’d been searching for a long time. He fell in love with the photos we were sent and then it was ripped away from us. Stephanie does shady business and I just hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else! You’ve been warned! She will string you along until the last minute and sell them to someone else. Pathetic.

I am SO impressed with Prickle Farms! I came on my birthday a couple of years ago and Stephanie (The breeder) was so kind and knowledgeable, I asked her about a thousand questions and she answered them all! I got a bag of food to start my hedgehog on and a little booklet containing everything she needs. I love my little Gracie, she is super happy and healthy. I would definitely recommend Prickle Farms to anyone looking for a hedgehog!

I bought a hedgehog from here on November 30, 2018. The Price seemed okay at the time but I found out later that other local people sold them for 50-60$ less. I still thought I it was okay since she claims to be a licensed breeder. I emailed her at the email I found on the website asking about who my hedgehog’s parents are and any medical information about my hedgehog or his family. I never received a response. I try to keep accurate records of my pets just in case there are problems and to avoid whs. The special carry home box is a thin cardboard box with a handle. For $200+ dollars I thought it would be a little better, but it was better than nothing. She did give me about 6 weeks of food. The handout she gave me for care was a poor black and white copy. It was a little hard to read. I did not mind this so much since there are better articles and care books online.Now this is what caused me to leave a negative review. She guessed the hedgehog was 8 weeks old when I bought it ( how would you not know). It was friendly at first. I played with it daily as recommended for at least 30 minutes. After about 2 weeks it started to seem more defensive and losing quills. I thought that it must be quilling. It is two and a half months since i got him and he is losing 20+quills a day. I took him to the vet and it turns out he has mites. He is not quilling. The vet thinks he has always had mites and they probably came from the breeder. There is no chance of him getting them from a different pet at my house since this is the first pet we have ever had or allowed in our house other than fish. I would think that a “licensed breeder” would take the necessary precautions to avoid spreading mites between their hedgehogs. So now I have to pay an additional $50 for the vet fee and $60+ for the mite shots, depending if he needs 2 or 3 shots ($30 a shot). For future buyers, I would just check KSL for one. Unfortunately, the “licensed breeder” has not been worth the extra cost. The only refund they give you, if I remember right since I chucked the crappy photocopy, is that if the hedgehog dies and you can prove with licensed veterinarians examination that the hedgehog was medically deficient, the they will give you a refund. How much would the biopsy cost? So be careful where you get your pets and don’t be fooled by the term “licensed breeder”!It has been 6 years and she help me with my previous hedge hog and we have bought another one from her. She may be a little more expensive but it turned out to be worth it. I am changing from 1 star to 4 star.
