Cornell University Veterinary Specialists Introduce
When a pet's health concern goes beyond the scope of a standard primary care veterinarian, Connecticut residents turn to a higher level of expertise. Cornell University Veterinary Specialists (CUVS), located in Stamford, stands as a beacon of advanced veterinary medicine and emergency care in the region. As a satellite hospital of the renowned Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, CUVS brings academic-level, cutting-edge knowledge and technology directly to our local communities. This facility operates as both a specialized referral center and a 24-hour emergency hospital, offering comprehensive solutions for complex conditions and critical situations.
The core mission of Cornell University Veterinary Specialists is to combine the advanced capabilities of a teaching institution with a highly communicative, service-oriented practice. Their team is comprised of board-certified specialists and experienced emergency veterinarians who are not only experts in their respective fields but also deeply committed to providing compassionate and collaborative care. They understand that facing a pet's serious illness or emergency is a stressful time for families, and they work tirelessly to support both the patient and their human companions. From advanced imaging and surgical oncology to critical care and internal medicine, CUVS is equipped to handle a wide range of challenging cases, ensuring that pets receive the best possible chance at a positive outcome.
Cornell University Veterinary Specialists is conveniently located at 880 Canal St, Stamford, CT 06902, USA. The facility is designed to be easily accessible for all visitors, particularly during urgent situations. The hospital offers a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. This attention to accessibility ensures that owners, regardless of their mobility needs, can bring their pets in without added stress. For emergency situations, there is a dedicated entrance and reception area, allowing for quick and direct access to the emergency and critical care team. While appointments are recommended for specialty consultations, the emergency service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing a reliable resource for pet owners across Connecticut during any crisis.

For pet owners in Connecticut, choosing Cornell University Veterinary Specialists is a decision made when a pet's health requires the highest level of expertise and care. The most significant reason to choose CUVS is their status as a dedicated specialty and emergency facility. Unlike a primary care vet, they are equipped with the advanced knowledge, technology, and staff to handle complex and critical cases. This is the place to go for specialized conditions such as cancer, heart disease, or orthopedic issues that require a surgeon's touch. The heartfelt reviews from clients whose pets were treated for serious illnesses like lymphoma highlight the compassionate and supportive nature of the entire staff. They become "a second family" during the most difficult of times, providing not only exceptional medical care but also emotional support.
Furthermore, the 24-hour emergency service is a lifeline for local pet owners. Knowing that there is a certified Level I Emergency and Critical Care Facility with specialists on site at all times provides immense peace of mind. The ability to receive advanced diagnostics like a CT scan or a complex surgical procedure on an emergency basis is invaluable. The collaborative model, where the specialists work in conjunction with your regular vet, ensures a continuity of care that is crucial for a pet's long-term health. While the cost may be higher than a routine visit to a local vet, the value lies in the access to unparalleled expertise and state-of-the-art resources that are otherwise unavailable in our region. For those moments when your pet's life depends on it, Cornell University Veterinary Specialists is a worthy choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Love, the whole oncology team, and all staff here are amazing! Our dog Bella had lymphoma and this team did absolutely everything they could for her and our family. With saddened hearts, Bella passed at Cornell yesterday but the team was nothing but compassionate and comforting. They all truly love their jobs and the families they treat and become a second family when you visit there so often!
June 23 · Elizabeth VenticinqueMy Cobi Bear was very sick with Stage 4 Cancer, when we met Dr Z. and the rest of the staff. They helped us through a very difficult time and gave me 6 more months of joy with my boy and in the end end treated us with such care and love. Today is Cobi birthday and I just want to say Thank you to the entire staff.
August 02 · Cam AdderleyOverall, it was an outstanding experience. Dr. Geddes is exceptional—professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. I couldn't be more pleased. His team also went above and beyond for my pet, Cleopatra. They made me feel completely at ease during her procedure and provided her with excellent care. I highly recommend Dr. Geddes and his entire team.
July 25 · Lourdes GiudiceI had a heartbreaking and frustrating experience with Cornell. My critically ill cat was transferred here from VEG, and I was never clearly informed that there would be any cost. The doctor told me multiple times that if I donated my cat’s body, there would be no fee. At the front desk, someone who didn’t seem to know what they were doing handed me a form to sign — while I was in shock and scared for my cat’s life. I signed it thinking it was part of the treatment process.Once admitted, the medical team heavily pressured me into euthanizing my cat rather than exploring treatment options. I’m a student with limited financial means, and I donated my cat’s body because I couldn’t even afford a funeral for him. Now I’m being billed, despite what I was told. VEG, who initially charged me $2,000, refunded the full amount out of compassion. Cornell has shown me none. This experience left me emotionally and financially devastated. I felt taken advantage of during one of the worst moments of my life. Please think twice before bringing your pet here!
June 05 · Elif T GurCan't say enough great things about Cornell and Dr. Morgan! Everyone was very kind, extremely knowledgeable and goes out of their way to help you and your pet. They keep you informed and up to date on information as well as frequently checking in with you regarding your pet. I am very grateful for the kind and compassionate care we received. The frequent updates, clear instructions on the discharge summary as well as compassion shown to my pet as well as myself were very much appreciated.
