★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I got guppies from Ocean’s Tropical Fish, and they were absolutely amazing! The fishes were healthy and vibrant, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many baby guppies I had. They thrived and lived a long time, which shows how well they were taken care of.When I had to move, the team was so kind and happily accepted all the baby guppies back. Their service is exceptional, and you can tell they really care about their fish and their customers. I’m so happy with both the quality of the fish and the overall experience. Highly recommend!
June 07 · Niru SriI've been going here for quite a few years for freshwater, the owner is always super knowledgeable and happy to answer any of my questions, recently I asked him about transitioning into salt water and I have been back time and time again asking him a million questions and his opinion on things and he is more than happy to always answer all of my questions. He has taken the time to point out different types of coral and fish, and tell me why some are good and some are not good for beginners, and offer recommendations on equipment and always is honest telling me what I do and don't need! He has never tried to upsell me on anything. Just gives me his opinion. I go do my research come back and talk to him some more and make my choice. The place is busy a lot of the time so you may have to wait to get your question answered, but he's always more than happy to answer any of my questions! I don't really get the other comments about the lack of customer service. I've never been in there for more than 5 minutes before someone has asked me if I need help. I was in there yesterday and the owner was answering questions for three, four different people all at the same time. The tanks are beautifully kept. The store is always clean, well organized and stocked and they play excellent music!!!
August 07 · Rachel StephenAwesome place with even more awesome people! I needed to ship a few large koi to a friend in New York but didn’t have my oxygen setup ready. I brought the koi to the shop, and one of the staff (wish I had caught his name!) went above and beyond—he helped me professionally pack the fish, and didn’t even charge me for it. Super helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. I’m really grateful for the support and highly recommend this shop to anyone in the hobby. Thank you again!
August 07 · Evan XuWow, this place is such a badass store!!I love coming here! Ocean'sTropical Fish is hands-down the best tropical fish store around. Killer vibes, super knowledgeable staff, and they’re not just trying to sell you a fish for the sake of selling it. They actually care about what happens after you leave the store and want to make sure your tank stays healthy and balanced. You can tell they’re all about helping your setup thrive—not just making a quick sale.
July 31 · erika collardI asked the gal working if she had a specific type of tetra which she was not aware of and thought that it was a name of a chemical to put in the water. She seemed very uninterested and in a hurry to close out my question. There really were no customers in the store but I felt like the employees were rushing around and wanted to give short and incomplete answers. I have more questions but I didn't really like the attitude from the girl so the other employee once he was free I approached him. The gentleman that worked there did help me but was not able to give me any information on freshwater plants as he said he did not know. After bagging some plants for me I felt that he was in a rush to get it completed. The store has a lot of potential and looks like a nice balance between fresh and some Advanced saltwater setups. I've been into aquariums for 45 years. And I've been in a lot of specialty stores. This was my first to travel down to Mission viejo. Really no reason to return.*** The owner's reply... (see screenshot attached)Not really surprised bc the culture obviously starts with this owner. There was no negatively expressed during my visit, just my review of poor personnel service and now I'm not welcomed back... after I said no reason to return. 😆I read more of the reviews and see the trend coming from the owner. Customers are hard to come by these days... probably will catch up to them.Do your research, plenty of Great specialty aquarium fish store with better selection and certainly service. 👋 bye
