★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've been going here for 7+ years. The past 2 times I've tried to take my dog in for his joint pain I was told I would have to pay emergency pricing (an additional $300). The first time they wouldn't give me an appointment within the week without paying the emergency pricing to fit me in. I made an appointment for weeks later instead. I was running 20 minutes late for this appointment (I couldn't find parking close by after driving around for 30 min. and my 13 yr old dog was struggling to walk). I called to let them know my status and was told I would now be charged for an emergency visit (the additional $300) because I was late.
July 24 · Ashley ByersI cannot describe how wonderful this vet practice is. We have a 10 year old dog and have been to at least a dozen vets over his life. This one **is by FAR the best**. It’s not even close.I’ve come here for 5 years and our dog has had a couple health issues in that time - I think I can give a pretty accurate assessment of the practice.I look for a few things when going to a vet:1. Most important: a smart and effective vet who keeps your pet safe. Absolutely yes. I cannot describe how much I appreciate Dr Stronger. She is the type of vet who absolutely knows what she’s doing and genuinely loves animals. She’s very smart and has caught a few things early from basic checkups. She has an absolute aura of competence. The few times our dog has had to go to a specialist or for follow up treatment, every other doctor mentions just how wonderful her reputation is. Finally, I often do research before bringing my dog in. Sometimes with other vets, I’ve politely asked about whatever I read, and they either say “oh I didn’t think of that” or they are irritated that I would ask at all. Dr Stronger is the opposite. She’s completely on top of things and she encourages you to ask questions and she wants to help you understand what’s happening with your pet.I genuinely feel completely safe with my dog in her care, and I don’t know if I can say that about any other vet I’ve encountered.2. They care about your pet: Absolutely. This is where they go from being great vets to truly exceptionalAs with many vets they are always booked. But when it’s an emergency they have **always** fit us in as soon as was necessary, often the same day despite being very busy. Not only that, Dr Stronger is the type of vet who calls as soon as the results come in. When she calls she asks about my dog and obviously genuinely cares. She asks follow up questions and if you have something to ask after the visit she’ll make time for a call after the days appointments without charge.Truly exceptional service.3. Reasonable prices: Check - they’re not the absolute cheapest but I’d say the prices are below average in NYC4. Their goal is to help your pet and not to sell you unnecessary procedures: check. There have been multiple occasions where I asked about a test or a follow up and the vet talked me out of it, saying it wasn’t necessary. On the other hand, there have been a few occasions where they did recommend further testing and each time it caught something important. In those occasions I was bracing myself for a huge charge but the testing prices were always reasonable5. Kind staff. They are always busy but always friendly and make the experience positiveLong story short I cannot recommend this place enough. I do not have a single complaint about them and I recommend them to anyone with a petI have only encountered Dr Stronger so cannot speak for the other vet but I would expect they are just as competent
October 16 · Dan ThompsonAfter visiting at least six area vets over the course of my pet's life, Brooklyn Roots is hands-down the best practice in the area.Dr. Stronger gives more thought to her care plans than some human-focused doctors, and did a fantastic job following up via email whenever I had questions about my pet's care.Keep in mind that it is a very busy office (due in large part to the quality of care), so be sure to book an appointment well in advance.I'd give six stars if I could.
July 13 · Pat TarantinoDr. Stronger and the Brooklyn Roots team put so much care, dedication and experience into their work and into the relationship with our dog and our family. Can't recommend highly enough!
April 22 · Mark SwierThrough the years, i tried several local vets but I've never found one as good as Brooklyn Roots. I started with Dr. Salas, who I really liked but left the practice; my dog is now treated by Dr. Stronger who is simply the best. She correctly dx'd my dog with a rare cancer and guided me to an oncologist at VERG. I continued to bring Ruby back to Brooklyn Roots for blood work, ultrasounds, etc. The entire staff, especially Amelia, are wonderful. Now that Ruby is at the end of her life, Dr. Stronger took my call in the midst of a busy day to discuss options, and addressed my concerns about when to put her down. Not only are her medical skills top notch, but her understanding and compassion at this challenging time are above and beyond. I'm grateful I found this practice.
