★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My dog got attacked and torn up by a pitbull. This was the closest emergency vet open @ 12am. they were done with surgery by 5am. The bill was extremely reasonable considering the damage that was done. My dog was mauled in 3 places(mouth & legs) and most likely would have died from blood loss if I didn't have packets of bleed stop for gunshot wounds to slow down the bleeding along with the quick response of this Emergency Animal Hospital.I'm so grateful for this place. thank you 100xthis event took place Aug 2020.apologies for the late review~
November 11 · Sterling CI would not even rate this facility 1 star. We’ve had the displeasure of our 15 year old family dog being “put down” in a manner against Veterinary standards back in 2018. Yes, this is an outdated review/ report, but it comes to show how traumatizing a night it was for us but especially our beloved dog, that I have had to relive her final moments through these years, because all I remember is my dying dog crying out in excruciating pain because of the malpractice of Elmhurst Animal Hospital. Whoever the Vet or Tech was that evening, adminstered an illegal method to “euthanize” our dog, and not 1 time, but she received 2 or 3 intracardiac(direct to the heart) injections while completely conscious.American Veterinary Medical Association Guidelines state: "Intracardiac injection is acceptable only when performed on heavily sedated, anesthetized, or comatose animals." Our poor dog was not in any one of those states. My aunt and my father requested “the good death” for my grandmother’s dear pet. My grandmother was away then for many weeks and we were looking after her. She was missing my grandmother dearly by each day. She fell ill and we rushed to the nearest open Vet. Her body was going into shock and they discovered she had cancer to the uterus, and upon remembering that right now, I look this up and this type of cancer is not even possible, as it is incredibly uncommon! My aunt and I stayed with her through this treatment ready for her to let go and be at peace. Petting her and holding her paw. Not knowing any better and being in shock from this decision, my aunt didn’t think anything of this method. I, who was just a teenager then, found this horrible and traumatizing. We both could not handle seeing her resist whatever she just got infected and my aunt tried to soothe her.Why is she in pain? What happened to the intravenous method? Why continue to stab her more than once in the chest with this blue fluid after she cries out with each injection?Upon these years, and always doing more and more research as I remember her death now and then, I realize she was holding on with each adminstration she received as it wasn’t working but making her suffer in ways no human being or animal should suffer. I could think it wasn’t in fact a slow painful death, but a reaction so fast, that her whole little body must have felt a rush of effects from that fluid within mere seconds of receiving it. This was unacceptable, unethical, should have never happened, and I pray there are not more Elmhurst Animal Hospital clients that can relate to our dog’s situation.
June 04 · Ada MoralesIve been here about 2-3 times and I cant really say anything negative except maybe the wait time and availability of an actual doctor. They put my 16yr old mini-pinscher to sleep in 2021 and the doctor was kind throughout the whole process. I think the problem is that they call themselves something they're not (24/7 ER) and then the community is left obviously disappointed. I call ahead of time regardless of the situation and confirm there's actually a doctor on site. Reasonable pricing too.
May 21 · Honestly MarsHorrible experience!!! When we approached the location the lights were completely off it almost looked like it was closed. We took a new born kitten who was unresponsive and the guy had the nerve to inform us at 7:25 pm (closing was at 8) that he was almost closing and couldn't help the kitten! "He will most likely die by tomorrow and sunday is a bad day and time to get sick" is what he told us! He was more concerned about leaving then helping!!! He was so heartless!!!
