Mixlab Introduce
For pet parents in New York City, managing a furry family member's health can be a complex and demanding task. When a pet requires specialized medication, the process can become even more challenging, especially if the drug needs to be custom-compounded to a specific dosage or flavor. This is where Mixlab, a modern veterinary compounding pharmacy, steps in to simplify and enhance the experience. Mixlab is not just a pharmacy; it's a dedicated partner in pet health, focused on creating custom-tailored medications and delivering them with a level of care and convenience that is a cut above the rest. By specializing exclusively in veterinary prescriptions, Mixlab ensures that every pet, from a tiny kitten to a large dog, receives the precise medication they need in a form that is easy to administer and even enjoyable to take. This specialization and commitment to quality have made them a go-to choice for pet owners and veterinarians alike.
Compounding pharmacies like Mixlab play a vital role in veterinary medicine. They can create medications that are no longer commercially available, formulate drugs without allergens, or, most commonly, adjust the dosage and form of a medication to suit an individual pet’s needs. This could mean turning a bitter pill into a palatable liquid, a flavored chewable, or even a transdermal gel that can be absorbed through the skin. This ability to customize is what makes Mixlab so invaluable, particularly for owners of picky or difficult-to-medicate pets. Beyond the medicine itself, Mixlab has built a reputation for its "delightful" care packages. Customers often receive their pet’s prescriptions in a thoughtfully packaged box that includes a personal note and a fun toy. This small but significant gesture transforms a routine and often stressful task into a positive experience, demonstrating the company’s deep understanding of the bond between pets and their humans. While some experiences with customer service may vary, the company's intent to provide a positive and caring experience is evident in its overall approach to packaging and follow-up communication.
While the goal is to provide exceptional service, it's worth noting that customer experiences can vary. As highlighted in a customer review, issues with communication and order cancellation can arise. The review mentions a frustrating experience with a discontinued medication size and a lack of timely updates, which led to a delay in getting a pet's prescription filled. This points to the importance of proactive communication from the customer's side and the value of clear, real-time updates from the pharmacy. The customer service representative's promise to expedite a shipment that had already been processed with a slower method further underscores this point. While these are important considerations, it's also clear that the company's general aim is to provide fast and efficient service, as evidenced by positive reviews that praise their speed and reliability. Most importantly, pet owners should be aware of the need to be diligent in tracking their prescriptions and communicating directly with their vets and the pharmacy to avoid any potential gaps in care.

What is worth choosing
When it comes to choosing a veterinary pharmacy in New York City, Mixlab presents a compelling option, particularly for pet owners who require customized medications. The core value proposition of Mixlab is its ability to compound medications to meet a pet's specific needs, whether it's for a senior cat with pain management needs or a dog with a unique allergy. One customer's story about their older cat's compounded Gabapentin highlights this perfectly, noting their impression with the speed of service and the delightful surprise of a toy. This personalized approach to pet health is invaluable, making the process of medicating a pet much easier on both the animal and the owner.
The convenience of Mixlab's delivery-centric model is a huge benefit for New Yorkers. As a customer stated, the company's quick turnaround for prescriptions is "thoroughly impressive." This means less time spent traveling and waiting, and more time focused on your pet. For those with busy schedules, the ability to have a prescription delivered directly to your home is a major time-saver. While there may be occasional customer service issues, as noted in a negative review about a discontinued product, the overall service model is designed for convenience and efficiency. The company's commitment to personalized and thoughtful service, including the fun touches in their packaging, shows a genuine care for the animals they serve. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My older cat gets compounded Gabapentin as pain management for her nerve damage. This is the first time that MixLab filled the prescription and I am thoroughly impressed with how fast they were able to fill it! They also sent a cute little rattle toy that is now my blind cat’s FAVORITE toy EVER! Thank you MixLab! I hope we get our prescriptions filled more often through your company!
May 17 · Mariah GambleTruly terrible customer service. For context, my dog gets compounded eyedrops from Mixlab. The eyedrops come in two sizes: 15mL and 5mL and are shelf stable for only a month. My vet originally prescribed them in 15mL and after a few months, I noticed we always had at least 2/3 of the bottle left when the month was up. I asked my vet to switch us to 5mL which was almost half the price. I ordered the 5mL for two months which was the perfect quantity. On the third month, I received a notification from Mixlab that the eyedrops were out of stock and would be restocked in 1-3 business days. We had a small amount left and they normally ship very quickly so this was fine. After four business days, I realized that we hadn’t heard anything from Mixlab and sent them a message, only to be told that the 5mL bottle was discontinued and I would need a new prescription for the 15mL from our vet, delaying the entire process.I reached out to our vet but in parallel, I informed Mixlab that I had previously ordered the 15mL and asked if they would still have refills on the previous prescription. They said yes and I placed an order for the 15mL since I was not completely out of eyedrops. My vet responded later that same day and recommended trying the 5mL bottle with the medication in a different type of oil and put in a prescription for that. I messaged Mixlab a few hours later and asked if the more expensive 15mL bottle could be cancelled so I could order the more affordable 5mL bottle. The order had not shipped yet but they said it could not be cancelled. After that, it took another full day for the medication to ship at which point we had been without it for two days already. When I called, they offered to expedite it but didn’t offer any other solutions or apologize for the misleading message stating that the medication would be restocked. The phone rep said that they would expedite the medication so that it would arrive the next day but then lo and behold, the next day (Friday), I received a shipping notification stating it would arrive on Monday. When I reached out again, the new representative said that the medication had already been shipped with a slower shipping method when I’d spoken to the representative the day before. Why would she lie and tell me it could be expedited in that case?!?!?!It’s cute that they send a toy in the package with each order but I’d rather they invest in better customer service. If you can get your pet’s medication compounded at any other pharmacy, I would avoid this one like the plague! They do not actually care about helping your pets!In addition, their phone line and website always says that you can text them for a quicker response but I have never received a response in less than half an hour and I have had multiple text messages go completely ignored and unanswered.
August 01 · Angela ZhuI am new to MixLab due to my cat's pharmacy being sold. I have had a smooth transition and they were/are welcoming. Prompt responses to any questions. Helps facilitate with your vet on your behalf. Would recommend.
July 05 · Boston SquirrelMy vet clinic changed pharmacies and I just received my first Mixlab order. My cat requires dermal medication for hyperthyroidism. I was so impressed with the speedy delivery and the amount of care/thoughtfulness. Included in the package was a small cat toy as well as 30 finger cots. Really appreciated that. First impressions go a long way and so I anticipate the rest of my interactions with this company being positive :)
August 08 · Jess SweeneyI don't usually leave reviews but I really wanted to post something for Mixlab. My veterinarian recently switched to a service that some of our meds now come from Mixlab. The delivery was fast and they send a cute little dog toy with each delivery and an adorable postcard. Thanks for making my dogs healthy condition seem a little more positive. 🐾💕🐕
