While a store's offerings are important, what truly makes it worth choosing is the overall customer experience. What makes Petco in Bonney Lake a viable option is its sheer breadth of products and on-site services, making it a convenient solution for many. The availability of live animals and insects for purchase, particularly for reptile and fish enthusiasts, is a major draw. For a pet owner who needs to pick up crickets for their lizard, a bag of dog food, and get their dog a quick nail trim, all in one stop, this store provides that convenience.
However, customer experiences, as reflected in online reviews, can be a mixed bag. While the store offers a wide selection, some customers have had disappointing interactions with staff, particularly in the specialized fish and reptile sections. Comments about a lack of proactive customer service and unprofessional behavior are important to consider. While one customer's review highlighted a particularly negative experience with the aquatic staff, it also serves as a reminder for potential visitors to manage their expectations and to be prepared to ask for help if needed. Despite these isolated instances, the store's mission is to provide products that are well-stocked and services that are readily available. The store's existence provides a valuable local option for pet owners who prefer a physical shopping experience over online retail, allowing them to see products and animals in person before making a purchase.
For Bonney Lake residents, Petco is a trusted brand with a familiar layout and product selection. It provides a solid foundation of pet care essentials and beyond. The store’s range of types—from a fish store to a pet supply store and reptile store—means it tries to be a full-service option for all kinds of pet owners. While some specific service interactions may vary, the core value of Petco remains its ability to be a central hub for a vast majority of a pet owner’s needs. By offering curbside pickup and delivery, it also adapts to the modern needs of customers who prioritize speed and convenience. For those seeking a reliable, well-stocked pet supply destination in the Bonney Lake region, Petco continues to be a go-to choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Full pet store supply and animals/insects for purchase off 410 Hwy.They have dog grooming and sell birds, fish, lizards, snakes, tarantulas and guinea pigs. They do sell mealworms and crickets, but I wish you could buy them by your own quantity and not a predetermined quantity in a plastic container where half of them are dead.
June 30 · Robert JorgensenThis store has its ups and downs but most recently we went in after purchasing over $500 with of tank supplies and waiting two weeks for it to be setup to buy fish.I looked around for twenty minutes looking at tanks. Some were overgrown with algae, others fish looked okay but were over crowded. We picked out a few options so I went to ask for help as we hadn’t seen any staff the whole time we were looking. The three staff were sitting on the counters laughing. I had to ask for assistance and they didn’t acknowledge me instead begrudgingly decided amongst themselves who was going to go catch fish. They teased each other. The one employee led me towards the fish and didn’t ask anything but my tank size and what fish I wanted. I told her and she had a negative reaction due to the size of the setup but offered an alternative based on my setup. I was considering it until anyone employee came over and said “absolutely not, we won’t sell you a fish for that setup.” I had already been considering other options but due to her raised voice in front of my five year old daughter and leaning against the fish tank without any curiosity or conversation I walked away and they genuinely seemed confused on how they lost a customer who was prepared to spend another $100+ in that trip to delight my kiddos after they had all been so patient for the tank to setup. After decades of having fish, no one asked me any other questions instead I am reminded why I shouldn’t buy fish from them and instead will be going to the Buckley fish store where they will be happy to support our growing hobby and be curious not judgmental.I hope this store hires managers who can help develop these junior and unprofessional employees.
July 19 · Lyndi ThompsonEverytime I come here I see dead fish, empty water bowls, and dirty enclosures. They say they will “investigate the situation “ and never actually do anything about it. Stop leaving dead fish in the tanks and start caring for the animals.
March 24 · JennaThe staff are friendly and helpful. I use a walker and despite being short on staff, a staff member helped me load my dog food. I ended up returning the dog food a few days later because my dogs didn't like it. I got a full refund with a very easy return experience
August 20 · Julie RileyItem was on a peg that had a $10.95 price tag. Looked correct. Rang up twice as much. Needed the item, so pad the higher price. Cashier was uninterested in anything. No attitude, just blah. Didn’t seem to have any emotion at all. Self check would have been more helpful.
