Senior Pet Vet Introduce
For pet owners in New Jersey, the journey with a senior pet is filled with both joy and difficult decisions. As our beloved companions age, their needs become more specialized, often requiring a level of care that can be challenging to provide in a traditional clinic setting. This is where Senior Pet Vet steps in, offering a truly unique and compassionate veterinary service that brings high-quality care directly to your home. Based in Closter, this practice is specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of senior dogs and cats, with a strong focus on end-of-life care, hospice, and palliative medicine. They understand that a pet's final years should be as comfortable and stress-free as possible, and that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is to provide care in the familiar comfort of their own home. Senior Pet Vet is more than just a mobile vet; it's a dedicated service built on empathy and a deep understanding of the human-animal bond. The team, led by veterinarians who specialize in this sensitive area of medicine, provides a level of kindness and support that is invaluable during a difficult time. Their mission is to empower families to make informed decisions and ensure their pet’s final moments are peaceful and serene. From pain management to in-home euthanasia, every service is delivered with an extraordinary degree of gentleness and respect, making a heartbreaking experience a little bit more bearable. This approach fills a critical need in the community, providing a much-needed alternative to the stress of a clinical setting for elderly or terminally ill pets. They are a professional and compassionate resource, dedicated to improving the quality of life for senior pets and the people who love them.
Senior Pet Vet is located at 185 Homans Ave, Closter, NJ 07624, USA. However, what truly defines their location and accessibility is their mobile nature. They are a veterinary service that comes to you. This is a crucial distinction and a significant benefit for pet owners in New Jersey, particularly those with senior pets who may have difficulty with mobility, travel, or the anxiety associated with a car ride and a clinical visit. The practice’s base in Closter allows them to serve a wide range of communities across the region, providing a convenient and stress-free option for families. While they do have a physical address for administrative purposes, their primary service model revolves around in-home visits. This eliminates the stress of transporting a frail or sick pet, allowing them to remain in their most comfortable environment surrounded by their loved ones. The absence of traditional walk-in service and the focus on appointments and house calls is a deliberate choice to provide the best possible care for their specific clientele. This service model is particularly beneficial for pet owners who may have limited mobility themselves or for those who simply want to give their pet the gift of a calm and peaceful transition at home. Their commitment to this mobile, in-home model makes them an invaluable resource for the New Jersey community, providing a level of accessibility and comfort that is hard to find in a standard veterinary clinic.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Unfortunately the time had come to put our 11 year old puppy down. We didn’t and probably couldn’t get him in a car to bring him to his vet, so we were given recommendations of a service by our vet that would come the house. I went with the first one I called. Dr McCaffery was here in a couple of hours and she couldn’t have been more kind or gentle. Of having the gift of owning and losing pups over my 50 years of existence, this was the most beautiful, pleasant, though heartbreaking experience. It was done in the comfort of his bed in the living room and I was able to carry him out with the doctor after he was gone. I would 100 percent recommend this Dr and Vet service.
May 19 · Chris McLoughlinI am so grateful to Dr Asgar for her kindness and compassion in euthanizing my beloved dog, Hans. I was able to hold him throughout the process, kissing and reassuring him. He died peacefully in my arms. Thank you! ♥️
April 12 · Pat HenrySo happy that Liz Stewart - Heal at Home Pet introduced us to you.Loved how caring you are, how you arrived on time and were prepared with Eddie’s medical history. So enjoyed your energy ☀️You didn’t rush whatsoever and you gave me so much information both OTC, Holistic and RX.Now we have a plan in place and baby steps. You didn’t load us with SO MUCH, you didn’t overwhelm and I appreciate it!We wait for results and know we have options.I loved that you said (even though he is almost 12) “this isn’t a 911”!My heart softened when you spoke those words.Thank you, you are appreciated.Sally, Eddie 🐾🐾🐾🐾 & Livi 🐾🐾🐾🐾
September 11 · Soul Practice YogaDr. McCaffrey and team were fantastic in helping us with our 11 year old Great Dane Samson. Very compassionate and talented vet that I couldn't endorse enough for when it's time to say good bye to a pet. They made a very difficult experience much easier.
January 22 · Paul ConwayA few weeks ago, our Doby was acting not quite himself. I took him in to the vet, and they found some disturbing shadows around his spleen and right lung. Yeah, there it was, cancer!! The oncologist gave us options, but there was only one for our family. Make him comfortable and spoil him to the end. We knew we would not let them do any invasive testing, or chemo and diminish what would be a short life anyway. The time finally came, and we humanely ended his illness, before he suffered too much. We had Dr. McCaffrey and Jill come to our house, so Doby could be where he was most comfortable. He died peacefully in his favorite outdoor bed, with us all holding him. They were so compassionate and friendly. The first thing Jill did when she met Doby was offer him a treat, which took his mind off these new folks at our home. Dr. M., then walked us through every step and was so kind and wonderful with Doby and my family. We are truly devastated but will always smile and laugh when we tell ourselves the tales of our crazy, loving Doby!Thank you Dr. McCaffrey and Jill for providing us with a truly peaceful ending for our little buddy and our family. We will be forever grateful!
