Small Door Veterinary - West Village Introduce
In a bustling city like New York, convenience is key, especially when it comes to the health and well-being of our beloved pets. Small Door Veterinary, with its location in the heart of the West Village, is a modern and compassionate veterinary clinic that stands out for its comprehensive approach to pet care. More than just an animal hospital, it operates as a full-service veterinary pharmacy, providing a seamless and stress-free experience for pet owners. The on-site pharmacy is a crucial component of their integrated care model, ensuring that you can get your pet's prescription medications and health products immediately after an appointment. This eliminates the need for an extra trip to an external pharmacy, saving you time and reducing the stress on both you and your pet. The team at Small Door understands that a pet's health can't wait, and having an on-site pharmacy allows for immediate treatment and a quicker path to recovery. Their focus on providing a holistic, technology-driven, and membership-based experience is a fresh take on veterinary care in New York, designed to make pet ownership more manageable and enjoyable. By having everything in one place, they simplify the process of caring for your pet, from a routine check-up to managing a chronic condition that requires daily medication. They are truly a one-stop-shop for all your pet's health needs, built with the modern New Yorker in mind.
Small Door Veterinary is ideally located at 15 7th Ave, New York, NY 10011, USA, right in the heart of the vibrant West Village. This location is easily accessible for residents of Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs, making it a convenient option for a wide range of pet owners. The clinic is close to several public transportation options, including subway lines and bus stops. The area is also walkable, which is a major plus for city dwellers. The facility itself is designed with the comfort of both pets and their owners in mind. As noted by a customer, the staff allows pets to roam and get comfortable in the room, which can make a significant difference for anxious animals. The clinic features a wheelchair accessible entrance, ensuring that all members of the community can bring their pets in for care without any physical barriers. The facility also has a clean and accessible restroom for client comfort. Small Door operates on an appointment-based model, which helps them manage the flow of patients and ensures that each pet receives the dedicated time and attention they deserve. This is a deliberate choice to prevent the rushed feeling that can sometimes occur at other clinics, a feature that customers truly appreciate. The combination of a prime location and a thoughtfully designed, client-friendly space makes Small Door Veterinary a standout option for pet care in the West Village.
As a full-service veterinary practice with a pharmacy, Small Door offers a wide range of services to meet the diverse needs of New York pet owners. The on-site pharmacy is seamlessly integrated into their comprehensive list of services, which includes:
- On-Site Pharmacy: The pharmacy stocks a variety of common prescription medications and pet health products, allowing for immediate pickup after an appointment. If a specific medication is not available, they can have it compounded and delivered to your door.
- Preventative and Wellness Care: Providing wellness exams, vaccinations (including core vaccines like Rabies and FVRCP, and non-core vaccines like Lyme and Canine Influenza), and parasite prevention.
- Diagnostic Services: Offering a comprehensive suite of diagnostic tools, including in-house blood work, digital X-rays, and fecal testing for rapid diagnosis and treatment.
- Dental Care: From routine dental cleanings to more complex dental extractions and surgery, they have a state-of-the-art dental suite to handle all of your pet's oral health needs.
- Surgical Procedures: The clinic is equipped for a variety of surgeries, including spays, neuters, soft tissue surgeries (such as mass removals and wound repairs), and some orthopedic procedures.

The on-site pharmacy is a huge convenience, as it means prescriptions can be filled right away, and you can get answers to your medication questions directly from the vet who prescribed it. This also ensures that the medication is authentic and of high quality, as it is sourced and dispensed under veterinary supervision. The ability to coordinate with a compounding pharmacy for home delivery is another benefit, especially for pets with special needs or owners who are unable to travel. The comprehensive nature of their services, from preventative care to sick patient exams and emergency care during business hours, shows that they are equipped to handle almost any health issue your pet might face. This makes them a reliable and trusted partner for ongoing pet care in the city. The fact that they are AAHA-accredited further highlights their commitment to a high standard of care.
Small Door Veterinary distinguishes itself with several key features and a unique approach to pet care that modern New Yorkers will appreciate. The membership model, while optional, offers a variety of perks that provide significant value, including a free annual exam and priority access to appointments. This structured approach helps ensure your pet receives timely care without the long waits often associated with traditional vet clinics. A major highlight is their 24/7 telehealth service, which allows members to chat with a vet team at any time for advice, offering peace of mind and helping to determine if an in-person visit is necessary. The clinic's design is also a key feature; it's a calm, welcoming space that uses Fear-Free practices to minimize stress for pets. A customer review noted how the team let their cat roam to get comfortable, a small but impactful detail that makes a big difference. The staff's compassionate and caring nature is consistently praised. Customers feel like they are "welcomed and like family," and they appreciate that the doctors take their time and never feel rushed. The transparency in their pricing is another huge plus; they provide clear, itemized bills with no surprises. Small Door's commitment to following up with clients via phone or text is a testament to their dedication to client communication and ongoing care. Furthermore, their ability to handle a wide variety of medical needs, from common allergies to more complex surgeries, makes them a reliable and trusted resource. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had a great experience at Small Door in West Village. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the doctors took their time to ask thoughtful questions about my cat, Noodle, before administering his vaccines. They even complimented me on the intake form, which was such a sweet touch! I really appreciated that they let my cat Noodle roam around the room to get comfortable—it made a big difference in easing his nerves. The whole appointment was quick, efficient, and handled with such care. Everyone was lovely, and I left feeling really good about the visit. Highly recommend! (he slept all night long after his vaccines)
March 21 · Anna LebedevaWe have been coming to Small Door West Village for a little under two years and have zero complaints. Everyone on staff from the front desk to the nurses, doctors and even the telehealth team is attentive, kind and thorough. The team is also great when it comes to following up!We never feel rushed for in person appointments or when speaking over the phone. Our pup unfortunately suffers from many allergies, which causes us to be frequent visitors for allergy shots, specially food/treats, diet worries etc. So, it is a huge plus to feel welcomed and like family whenever we come in.Highly recommended the Small Door West Village location!
August 28 · Margaret Haskins-FedericoThis was my puppy’s first exam after switching over from another vet. The office is bright and clean and the staffs are so friendly. I do have a membership but given my puppy needs the rest of her vaccines and extra exams, I decided to purchase the wellness plan bundle which I think is worth the price. I love the access to 24/7 telehealth as well and have been very useful when I accidentally thought my puppy swallowed a squeaky toy. They are also transparent with their pricing which is very helpful. Only recommendation I have for this office is to sweep or clean the exam room floors as there were a lot of dog hair from a previous visit.
August 09 · Nicole KimLove Small Door! Always easy to get an appointment, always starts on time, easy to get in touch with. My dog also likes them and doesn't dread going. They do puppy playgroups for dogs under 16 weeks who haven't finished their vaccinations so they can socialize with other puppies, which is amazing!
June 20 · Amanda TheilerWe've had a fantastic experience so far taking our two cats to Small Door West Village. The team there is caring and transparent, and the office does a remarkable job with running on-time!We're confident knowing that our boys are receiving top-notch care, and I would happily recommend Small Door West Village to any fellow pet-owners!
