Harbor Pet Center is dedicated to providing a diverse array of animals and products. They are not just a pet supply store; they also offer a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and reptiles. For dog owners, the store has a reputation for offering some "very best" puppies. A few customers have raised concerns about the health of puppies purchased from the store and have shared negative experiences with customer service and reimbursement for veterinary bills. One customer noted that a puppy was "very sick" with Giardia, which required multiple vet visits and medications, and that the promised reimbursement for these costs was not fully delivered. Another review expressed concern over the conditions in which the puppies were housed, describing them as being in small cages with limited space and no blankets or beds. These reviews point to inconsistencies in customer satisfaction and a need for potential customers to be diligent in their research and observation before making a purchase.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Update2: I was promised a refund of $98 I go there then they tell me they will only refund $61 after I was already made to drive an hour and half. They already had the receipts from months ago. This place is so sketchy. They are not reputable. It's a shame. The money and expense of a sick dog. I was hoping they were going to make it right.Update: Although my dog is just a wonderful dog He was very sick. I got a puppy from there. They said take to the vets right away to ensure it's healthy. I did only to find out he had Giardia. It took multiple poop samples and 2 Different antibiotics and multiple trips to the vet. They said give them the receipts so They can reimburse me for the medicine. I sent them all. I called multiple times and emails. Never got any type of reimbursement. Very disappointing. I love my Jack Russell pup. But don't like the cost of going to the vet. Then paying $57 for the poop sample multiple times. Everything in my house had to be scrubbed every day. They were exceptionally nice. We bought our Jack Russell from them. He is the very best puppy.
July 13 · Christina Perrywe got a puppy from there on December 23 and i absolutely love him… but this place is sickening these poor dogs are in a tiny cage no blankets or beds and they drink out of a thing that rabbits drink out of which means they can’t possibly be getting enough water, under them there is there pee and poop on a tray under them which definitely isn’t good to breath in. these poor dogs also never get out of the cage unless someone goes and asks to see it which is terriable and we found that out because we asked.. you would also think they would check things out about the person or family buying the dog weather or not they have a good home for the puppy or weather they have money to take care of the puppy or if there bad people it could just go on but they don’t do anything they just sell the puppy.. when we bought our puppy they said he was healthy no kennel cough well the day we brought him home he started coughing a lot and we did things to help him but then he got our other dog sick so we had to take them both to the vet which shows that they don’t know if the puppies are sick. there is so much more and i could go on for hours but this place needs to get shut down or needs to just stop selling puppies it shouldn’t be aloud but i will share some pictures of my cute puppy
February 12 · Ella DemseyThis is one of the worst pet stores I have ever been inside. I stopped in with a friend as we were in the area from out of state and we like checking out locally owned pet stores. The first thing I noticed as we walked in was the massive wall of puppy mill dogs in glass enclosures too small to properly move around in. Any store that knowingly supports unethical breeding practices is already deplorable. Seriously though, do research into puppy mills before ever buying a puppy from any pet store and reach out to your local breed club to find an ethical breeder or adopt one of the millions of dogs in shelters instead. My career involves training and working hands-on with dogs and I see the awful results of backyard breeding every day.The reptiles and invertebrates were kept in containers with either dirty water or none at all. Crested geckos, scorpions, tarantulas, frogs, etc. were all being kept in rows of the smallest available size of cricket keepers. Enclosure size aside, there is no possible way to maintain a steady, proper temperature and humidity level in those tiny containers. There were multiple enclosures that were housing at least two iguanas. These animals had injuries indicative of fighting and some of them had wounds on their noses from hitting off of the glass. Iguanas are a very large, territorial species and should not be housed together, especially in as small of an enclosure as these ones were being housed in. There were plenty of other awful examples I could list, but this review is already going to be long enough. The aquatics section was not the worst I have seen, but it was not ethical by any means. There were sick, dying, and dead fish in the tanks. The worst part was an emaciated juvenile axolotl that appeared to need urgent vet care that I'm sure it will not receive. As we were browsing, my friend and I (both of us have careers that allow us to work hands-on with dogs daily and we are experienced reptile and fish keepers) were discussing among ourselves the horrible conditions that these animals were being kept in. Another customer overheard us talking and chimed in to tell us about their disgust with the store and a negative experience they have had with the store in the past. Not long later, we were approached by an employee who said something along the lines of "If you're not happy with how we do things here, you are free to leave." This is true -- we could have left. However, if no one is going to advocate for these animals, then there is no chance of getting the word out about this place. The employee then proceeded to tell us something along the lines of us "saying bad things about the store to their customers" and that we "obviously have no idea what we're talking about" and then told us we needed to leave.Firstly, this woman saying that we have no idea what we're talking about is so ironic considering the abhorrent conditions that the animals under the care of the store are being kept in. The fact that someone can even try to defend the state in which the animals are being kept is completely pathetic. There are signs all over the store saying not to take pictures because it stresses the animals out. You're concerned about the animals being stressed from having a phone pointed at them but you're not concerned that those same animals are living in neglectful conditions? Sounds more like this store preys on the ignorant to make a profit and the owner doesn't want pictures of the animals in their care circulating because they know how disgusting it is. It is very concerning that the staff members don't see an issue with the care (or lack thereof) of these animals.I can't believe that it's legal for a store like this to be in business. Walking into this place ruined a part of my day and my heart breaks for the animals in the care of this store. If you read this far, please heed my advice and the advice of others' reviews and avoid this store. Places like this need to be shut down.
August 10 · Elsa GetzGirlfriend bought a puppy from there last year, as soon as we got him home we found out it had worms, okay no problem we took him to the vet got medicine which we were told was reimbursable.Well today we drove an hour to get the reimbursement which was around $100 only to be told sorry you're only getting $61 dollars, even with receipts of the medications. We're looking for a companion for our dog now we would never consider this place....PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE REVIEWS
July 13 · SteelCityI bought my Cavapoo Beau from Harbor Pets back in April and I brought him back today for his first grooming appointment. Beau and I were given a warm welcome as soon as we walked in. I am so happy with the outcome he looks so adorable he was groomed exactly as I had asked him to look! The girl that groomed him was so nice and my baby came out to me so happy you can tell he was treated very well! I will definitely be back to have him groomed there again.
