In a city as large and fast-paced as New York, finding a veterinary practice that feels like a trusted, community-rooted institution can be a true comfort. Gramercy Park Animal Hospital, located in the vibrant neighborhood it's named after, is precisely that kind of place. For decades, it has served as a cornerstone of pet health for residents, offering a professional yet deeply compassionate environment where animals are treated with genuine care. This isn't a flashy, high-volume clinic; instead, it prioritizes building long-term relationships with both pets and their owners, fostering a sense of trust and familiarity that is invaluable for managing a pet’s health over their lifetime.
The hospital's reputation is built on a foundation of experienced and compassionate staff. Many clients have been with the practice for years, some for multiple generations of pets, a testament to the consistent quality of care provided. The veterinarians, such as Dr. Kuhlman, are praised for their knowledge and a compassionate, calm approach to diagnosis and treatment. This personal touch, combined with a staff that is efficient and willing to go the extra mile, creates a supportive atmosphere. They understand that a visit to the vet can be stressful for both pet and owner, and they work to make the experience as comfortable as possible, always putting the well-being of the animal first.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Gramercy Park Animal Hospital gives off that comforting, community-rooted vibe — the kind of place where pets are treated like family. It’s always great to see clinics that prioritize genuine care over flash.Just happened to notice there’s no official website listed — might make it a bit harder for folks nearby to find important info or get in touch quickly.(Sharing as a web developer who often works with local businesses — hope you don’t mind the little insight!)
July 31 · Grab 4uI have been with this practice since my first dog 25 years ago. Dr Kuhlman is knowledgeable and compassionate. The staff is efficient and willing to go the extra mile. I am so grateful to have them in my corner for four dogs and counting.
January 04 · Karina KreppI had an incredible experience here managing the paperwork for traveling abroad with my dog. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so supported and cared for by a vet team ever. We got this done on a very tight timeline and the team did everything to make things not stressful for me.Huge shout out to Arlene who is a pure earth angel to the likes of which I’ve rarely seen. Just wow.But the entire team is incredible and you feel their genuine care every time they answer the phone no matter who answers. It’s special.
July 02 · Shelbi LifshitzI was referred here by a friend for the repair of my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's luxating patellas. I was having a really hard time finding somewhere to do the surgery at a reasonable price (had received quotes from other vets in the city for $10k-15k). Dr Kuhlman was so knowledgeable and a true veteran - he is honest and fair which is hard to find in the vet world right now. She had the surgery two weeks after our consult with their traveling orthopedic surgeon and she is now recovering happily at home! All in all the repair was just under $3k which is less than I paid in the suburbs. These are the best prices with highest standard of care in the city - I wish I had been taking my baby here for years! I typically defer to younger vets as I think they are more up to date on recent medicine but that is not the case with Dr Kuhlman - he is spectacular. Dash will be a patient here for the foreseeable future!
April 26 · Ali WibleWe absolutely love the team at Gramercy Park. We got a new puppy in March and had been taking her to Rivergate Vet (where we were taking our cat previously). Our puppy tested positive for Giardia within two days of arriving. Rivergate kept putting her on round after round of the exact same medication over and over again—which was really hard on her body, and wasn't treating her illness. We switched to Gramercy at the recommendation of our trainer, and they've been incredible. They've offered real solutions, taking into account what has and hasn't worked previously, and have been so very kind to us and patient with our anxiety and fear throughout all of it. The front desk team is SO sweet, and the doctors (we've seen Dr. Kuhlman and Dr. Frucht) are really incredible at what they do. Highly recommend!
