★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is a heartbreaking but important one if the dreaded should ever happen to you in their care. I brought my darling girl, Lyanna, into the Cambridge ER on Monday after she got sick & I couldn't figure out why. Turns out she had a very rare (for female cats) urinary issue. She was already in active shock & critical condition by our arrival. Unfortunately, she didn't make it & along with her went my sanity.. however, the team at VEG was extraordinary. My vet identified her critical state, sprung into action immediately, & ran labs so fast that I knew the gravity of the situation within 20 mins. She was professional, calm & warm, yet very clear in her communication of Lyanna's condition. Her steadiness helped me understand the whirlwind of the unfathomably unlikely odds we were facing. The team did everything they could to stabilize her but I will never forget the deep care & concern in her eyes that empowered me to make the hardest decision a guardian can ever make for their dying baby. After my girl passed, one of the nurses helped me understand the logistics of preserving her remains while reassuring me that this was an extremely rare case and not something I could have seen coming, which meant the world to me as I thought I had missed something. The 2nd person who worked on her came back in to help me shear off my favorite parts of her fur as a keepsake & stayed to converse with us. She explained that they can still hear you for 7 minutes after since their brains are still firing off neurons. It's the empathetic & compassionate gestures that speaks volumes of this team. They are not only in the business of making animals comfortable but also us parents. The talent of those 3 women and this whole staff cannot be overstated. I haven't even called my friends back, but I had to write this review because I was so touched by their care. Not to mention them hearing of my financial struggles & helping in every way they could to make it financially feasible for me to have a private cremation which was all that mattered to me. These people are angels. I genuinely can't thank them enough for holding my hand so compassionately through the literal worst & most shocking day of my life. I will be in therapy for a second but I will sing VEG's praises forever. Rest easy & stay near, my little Lyanna Rhaenyra Stark Targaryen Fernandez. Fierce til the end
August 30 · Yenesis FernandezIncredible experience from intake to discharge even under extreme stress. These guys saved my cat's life and let me be by her side every step of the way.Initially, our wait time was a little long for being late at night, only because they fast tracked a dangerous and time sensitive condition in another pet, which I understand and completely respect. Seeing that actually gave me even more faith in the quality of care.Once it was our turn, they quickly examined and grabbed samples to determine the cause of her symptoms as soon as possible. Once we were narrowed down to kidney problems, a plan of attack was immediately formulated and implemented. Though my best friend of sixteen years had to be hospitalized, I have never trusted anyone more with her health and wellbeing than the staff at this establishment. They did everything they could to make her comfortable for her two night stay, letting me leave my jacket with her and even offering to let me stay the night just to be close. While I did have to decline as I had another cat at home, they let me know about the generous open door policy which I took advantage of. I was involved in her care from treatment even when I wasn't there with regular updates and wonderful photos which I'm probably getting framed.Overall, there's nothing in this world like seeing the life come back to your furry friend, and VEG made it possible for us. Thank you!!
May 27 · Madison WordenVEG was probably one of the best emergency animal hospitals I’ve been to. Our male cat was squatting around the house and we immediately knew what that meant. He had a urinary blockage and could not pass his pee and needed to be manually drained or the pee would back up and cause kidney damage. We called the front desk to speak with a vet tech who told us we need to bring him in immediately. We brought him in and were so overwhelmed but everyone was so kind to us. They got to work on him immediately with no wait and were able to start administering pain meds to make him comfortable. Of course the cost for treatment was very high and both my partner and I lost our jobs that week so we were extremely distressed over the cost. The receptionist helped talk through financing options which we ultimately ended up doing while we wait for pet insurance reimbursement. They allowed us to watch the procedure and hold his paw and rub his head as they helped him which I thought was really cool but also transparent and kept us calmer. They gave us snacks and water and told us we could even tat at the night but we decided to go home to our other cat and come back in the morning. Duffy stayed 2 days in the hospital and we were able to visit as many times as needed and he was so happy to see us. They also would text us photos and funny little updates about Duffy which was so sweet. He’s back at home recovering and we cannot stop talking about how great this hospital was truly. I wish they were a regular clinic as I would just bring my cats in for regular checkups if I could!!!! I cannot thank the VEG staff enough for what they do.
April 28 · Taylor TennI cannot express how appreciative I am for how VEG allows for owner to be involved. I called many times to ask questions, clarify treatment plans, get updates, and even ask when to bring Harley in initially. Each and every time I was able to speak with a doctor. That was HUGE! And VEG allowing me to be physically present with Harley as he went through his hospitalization was also huge. Thank you for the care and thoughtfulness of how this is a process for owner as well as fur baby. Much appreciated!!
July 04 · Colie ColeI was sent to VEG in Fresh Pond (Cambridge) on Thursday by my regular vet. My cat needed supplemental oxygen. The staff at VEG are very thorough, extremely kind and patient, gentle with my cat. They let me stay with him through everything except X-rays.The vet on staff that day (Dr. Coffey) had to give me bad news, and was very gentle with me as she delivered it. I cannot emphasize enough how kind everyone at VEG is.The facility is well-lit and comfortable. The staff made sure we had chairs, and directed us to snacks, and checked in with us frequently. My little guy took a turn for the worse today. I called VEG for advice on the next step, and they immediately put me through to a vet (fortuitously the same one who had seen us Thursday). She was very patient with me sobbing on the phone, and did not push me to take a particular option, but offered pros and cons of each.I recommend VEG highly if you're having a pet health crisis.
