Veterinary Emergency Group Introduce
For pet owners in New York, the suddenness of a medical emergency can be one of the most terrifying experiences imaginable. When every second counts, having a reliable, compassionate, and expert team to turn to is not just a convenience—it's a necessity. Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Carle Place is the premier destination for pet emergencies on Long Island. This is not a standard veterinary clinic with limited hours; it's a dedicated 24/7 emergency veterinarian service and animal hospital, ready to help you and your pet at any time, day or night. From the moment you walk in, the focus is on immediate care and making a stressful situation as calm as possible. What sets VEG apart, and what makes them an absolute lifeline, is their philosophy of keeping pet owners by their pet's side throughout the entire process, a compassionate approach that one customer described as making them "feel at home in the middle of an emergency."
The core of VEG's mission is to provide an environment of transparency and emotional support during a crisis. Their unique open-concept model means there are no back rooms where you have to wait and wonder. Instead, you are invited to stay with your pet in the treatment area, observing every step of their care. This is a game-changer for many pet owners, especially when dealing with a pet that is terrified or anxious. As one review highlighted, this level of inclusion helped keep their dogs calm during a terrifying rat poison scare. The staff is consistently praised for their professionalism, knowledge, and empathy, not just for the animals but for their worried human companions as well. In another poignant review, a family recounted the heartbreaking story of their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Kingsley, who had a sudden seizure and passed away from a serious heart condition called Myxomatous Valvular Degeneration (MVD). The owner noted how the team's relentless efforts to save him, and their incredible compassion during such a painful time, made them feel that their pet was in the hands of people who truly cared. This level of dedication and genuine care is what makes VEG a trusted partner in the most critical moments of a pet's life.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1When our three dogs got into rat poison, my wife and I were terrified. We rushed them to Veterinary Emergency Group, and from the moment we walked in, we were met with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. The entire staff was incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate, making both us and our dogs feel at ease during such a stressful situation. What stood out most is that they allow you to stay with your pets in the back while they work—no being separated, which meant the world to us and helped keep our dogs calm. They treated our pups like family, explaining every step of the process clearly and showing how much they truly care about animals and their people. The level of comfort and reassurance they provided made us feel at home in the middle of an emergency. We are so grateful for everything they did and can’t recommend Veterinary Emergency Group enough. They’re absolute lifesavers!
August 28 · Chris BartzWe were taken off guard when our 2 and 1/2 year old Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel "Kingsley " had a seizure. We followed up with a vet who said all looked ok but to monitor. Although he was walking around and wagging his tail he was a little less active than usual. The next evening he had breathing issues. We rushed him to VEG. They immediately gave him a songram and were very patient in explaining the issues and possibilities. They had him in an oxygen chamber to monitor overnight. He seemed to be getting better but we recieved a call after an hour had passed that he was vomiting blood and they were doing everything they could to resucitate him. The fact that they wouldnt give up was so amazing to me. He did not make it by the time my family got there as I was caring for my son who was also sick but at least he was in the hands of people who truly cared. It is an amazing place the drs the staff are incredibly compassionate and we felt he was safe there. While excruciatingly painful that Kingsley had MVD and passed so suddenly I will always choose to go to VEG for any pet emergencies!!!!! Blessings!!! Thank you!! Edna Luna aka:Andie
June 16 · E LunaWe were on vacation when we received the worst call imaginable that our puppy had gotten out and been hit by a car. The compassionate, knowledgeable, and caring staff helped us to get through this experience. They took her in immediately and helped stabilize her and get her the care she needed. They continued to monitor and care for her until she was ready to come home. They kept us updated and informed the whole time. Being able to call them at anytime and come visit our puppy whenever we wanted brought some comfort during a really hard time. We are so so thankful to VEG and would 110% recommend this vet ER to anyone.
July 29 · Kate CurryIf your fur baby ever needs emergency care, this is truly the only place to go. The team is incredibly kind, compassionate, and transparent. What makes this clinic unique is their open-concept setup—most of the care takes place in a shared space where you can stay with your pet and observe the entire appointment. Unlike many 24-hour facilities we’ve visited, VEG Carle Place never made us feel pressured to agree to unnecessary tests/treatments just to drive up the cost. The staff was outstanding and showed as much care for my husband and me as they did for our kitty.A heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Schwartz and nurses Matthew and Jackie for their exceptional care!!!!- Cami Mayer
June 01 · Josh MayerI cannot say enough good things about VEG ER for Pets in Carle Place, NY. Until you have to rush your pet to the ER in the middle of the night, you'll never understand how traumatic it can be. The staff is PHENOMENAL! We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door, and we were never separated from our cat. In fact, they provided a private waiting room so we could keep him comfortable and relaxed while waiting. They checked in often, provided drinks and snacks and most importantly, they involved us in every single decision along the way. I wish I could name every single person that helped us and offered so much compassion because EVERYONE was amazing, but to name a few, I'd like to personally thank Alexa, Amelia, Brenna, Jessica O., Jamie, Alison and Jessica, G. Your compassion and empathy is so appreciated. And Dr. Cha! Wow! An absolute rockstar. She worked all night doing what she could for everyone there. It was BUSY and yet she still took her time with us and was super kind and knowledgeable. Thank you all!
