VEG ER for Pets is defined by its innovative and compassionate approach to veterinary care. These unique highlights are what make it stand out from other emergency hospitals.
Stay with Your Pet: One of the most significant and appreciated features is the "open floor plan" and the policy that pet parents can stay with their pet throughout the entire process—including during triage, X-rays, and even surgery. This eliminates the stress of being separated from a sick or injured pet and allows the owner to be an active part of their care team.
Immediate Triage: The team at VEG begins with a direct approach. When you arrive, a veterinarian sees your pet right away, even before paperwork is completed. This immediate attention can be life-saving and is a departure from the often long wait times at other emergency facilities.
Transparent and Responsive Communication: The staff is praised for their clear communication, providing pet parents with detailed explanations of a pet’s condition and all available treatment options. They are responsive to questions and concerns, ensuring a fully transparent experience from start to finish.
Empathetic and Kind Staff: Reviews consistently highlight the staff's compassion, kindness, and empathy. This human-centered approach makes a difficult situation much more manageable for the pet owner, showing that the team truly cares for both the animal and the person who loves them.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1all of the doctors and nurses here are some of the most compassionate and kind people my partner and I have met in the few times we’ve gone. We unfortunately had to put down our cat salem recently at VEG but they made the process extremely simple, clearly explained every step & were very empathetic. they let us take as much time as we needed with our boy. I can’t say enough how much we appreciate this emergency room and the staff here. here’s some photos of our boy, we miss him to pieces
August 29 · Jaclyn ReneeThe best emergency vet experience we have ever had. The team was compassionate, responsive, knowledgeable and extremely effective. We loved that we could stay with our dog, and the whole vibe was warm, caring and you could see that they treated every patient with the same amazing responsiveness and care.
July 20 · Heather KahlertAfter a very difficult 24 hours of trying to find care for our dog who was in labor and medically required a c-section. We were unbelievably blessed to have ended up at this specific center. Dr.Gilford and her crew immediately looked at our dog and were able to ease our minds of so much anxiety and stress. We came in but a few hours later and Dr.Mathy and the staff at that time already greenlit us to get zira on a table, right before everything was set she delivered her first puppy naturally, we were all so shocked that zira was perfectly capable of doing this, the medical team allowed my partner and myself stay with zira and her pups for as long as we needed to see this through. They were extremely friendly and accommodating not only to our dog but us as well. Even when there were certain complications, they did everything they could to avoid having to perform surgery. Thanks to the team, Zira is in good health at home again, now with 7 puppies. We would like to give a particular shout out to Dani, she was right by ziras side the whole process, even if zira was being feisty, she saw everything through until she and her puppies were okay. We cannot begin to thank this team enough for their hard work and patience. ❤️
July 28 · Zeke TomasinoThe moment I stepped into the clinic, I was met with care, concern, and quick action. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Having to make emergency vet visits in the middle of the night is never fun, however the staff at VEG ER made things a little more palatable.Their setup allows for quick response and immediate care, my little guy was in this pretty cool O2 chamber box and being able to sit with him was comforting for us both. The Dr., nurses, and vet techs explained and answered any questions I had, and made small talk to ease the stress. I don't normally ask to hug those in the medical profession, however, the night Dr.'s empathy and kindness left me in tears. Thank you all for caring for Echo. We appreciate you. ♥️
August 07 · AmandaThe staff at VEG ER Cos Cob is incredibly compassionate and great at their job. They did not only take care of my sick cat, they were very kind and understanding of what I was going through as well. They were constantly offering me coffee, water and making sure I was comfortable while waiting for all the results. They are very kind and careful in handling the pets. My cat was as calm as a cat can be at a vet’s. We are still in the middle of figuring out the root cause of his sickness, but I wanted to take a moment to thank Dr. Raja Basak Smith, Amanda, AJ, Danielle and the entire team for everything they do to keep our fur babies safe!
