★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Blindsided by fees. They called me and asked to bring in a stool sample for my kitten. I was bringing him in because he has tapeworms. I was looking at the vaccination packages online, and they say the full package is $250. I get to the clinic and they tell me the full package is $570, more than DOUBLE what is advertised online. But, whatever it’s California I guess, but more than double than what is online is insane. So I bring the stool and find out the fee is almost $70 to get it checked. I know he already has worms so why do I need his stool sent to a lab? Not only that, but why not tell me over the phone the cost of this? The dewormer plus the cost of the flea prevention medication was less than $40. They made it seem like the sample was required for the exam when it really isn’t, then charges me $70 after already taking the sample and not giving me the option to opt out. The cost of just the exam is $86 (which I thankfully had a coupon for). The cost of the visit all together was originally $196, but after the coupon for free first exam, it was $113. All for a medication I could have probably gotten from a different vet and administered myself at home. The techs are nice but the vet is extremely condescending. I felt like I was in some comedy skit. I explain that I got my kitten because it was abandoned by its mother who was just a stray that my friend would feed when it would come to her house. She asked if anyone wanted to adopt any of the kittens because she couldn’t care for them all herself. I adopt one and the vet says to my kitten, “did you tell her she should’ve adopted one of your siblings too?” Are you paying $1140 for their vaccinations???? So out of touch. Just say it to my face that you recommend adopting another kitten so they can grow together, not just insinuating that what i’m doing is wrong? This kitten was taken from being outside in the dirt with flees to being cared for and treated inside. He also has an issue with trying biting fingers because he thinks you can play with them. I’ve only had him for two weeks and have been working on correcting this behavior, but again the vet makes some comment talking to my kitten, “that’s very bad, did you tell her she should teach you not to bite?” Obviously he should not bite, but I told you i’ve only had him for a short time? Will never take my kitten back to this store to get treated.
July 09 · Angelee ThavisayI am very disappointed with my most recent visit to Vetco. My vet tech, Hamid Koupaei was horrible.I went to get a health certificate for my dog to travel with me as well as some unrelated vaccines. Pretty sure he didnt read any of the paperwork because he almost skipped the vaccines I came for.Hamid also lied claiming my dog needed a heartwork test and medication. Since I was traveling with my dog this was completely untrue so I said no. He then left a note on the health certificate saying I declined despite it being a state requirement. This didnt affect my trip because it was not required, but he was either lying to upsell me or he was incompetent and didnt know the actual requirements. The worst part of this visit was that he added a charge for 3 units of "professional time" that added about $120 to my bill. This charge was by far the highest charge on the whole bill. Ive gotten many health certifiates for my dog and this time the visit cost twice as much as any other. I was also quoted a price prior to my visit that was within the range of what Ive paid before so them sneaking on a charge is completely shady.Ive had good experiences at this location before, but I will be finding a new vet from here on out.
July 27 · Alex LeeI went to Vetco at Petco on Culver road in Irvine, and they told me my cat needs to have proof of her vaccination records, we unfortunately lost them in a flood and our usual vet in San Bernardino CA was closed. We agreed for her to get the rabies shot as they said it was for the safety of there staff, despite us not wanting to have it as she already has the shot. They didn't try to give her the shot till after the appointment, to which they already had there hands on her, petting her, and holding her, she behaved and purred the entire appointment without issue, even when The Vet Dr, Rezaei hurt her by squeezing her stomach way to hard where she only meowed in pain, She didn't bite nor scratch. When we refused the rabies shot due to the appointment being over, we saw no point anymore, he threatened to say our cat bit and scratched him, and gave him rabies. Saying he would get away with it sense he's a licensed veterinarian. He admitted it would be a falsified report and asked if this is the route we want to go down, because it is the law. When I stated there was no law for cats rabies vaccination, only dogs, he snapped back, rasing his voice and said "no it IS the law" he would not show proof of this being a law. This is a TERRIBLE vet, do not take your animals here! After some basic research was done, there is no proof of him having a actual veterinarian license, I will be doing more research to confirm this claim, but as of right now, there is no license for him that can be easily located. Please think twice before taking your pet here, I certainly wish I did.
August 09 · Mariaif you make an appointment, your process is very smooth and efficient. the staff are incredibly friendly. the vets are knowledgeable and only do what is required for your pet.I had to have my pet in for dental surgery and I was informed every step of the way of any changes and why they were necessary. after the surgery, my pet was in great spirits despite having a lot of teeth pulled so I know she was well taken care of while at their hospital.
February 08 · Thomas MorenoI’ve taken my newly rescued German Shepherd to the Irvine Vetco Total Care twice this month for routine services. I’m very happy with the care received at this location. A special thanks to Michelle Ho for being so kind, professional and explaining everything clearly. 👍👍
